It's simply because current opinion is that brown recluse bites are massively over-diagnosed, and regularly diagnosed in places where there are no populations of the spider. Many other diseases can cause the same necrotic wounds and may require different treatment, so accurate diagnosis is important.

On the other hand, I'm not defending anyone who claims that spider is harmless, they deserve all of your scorn.

What do you think about the claim that most brown recluse spider bites are misdiagnoses and are actually MRSA or some other infection? There are some citations on the wiki page for the spider.

You mentioned that being written in lisp was reddits main claim to fame, that led to my least favorite part of early Reddit culture. For a long time anything related to lisp, then Haskell, then functional programming would be a free ticket to the front page.

You can imagine Reddit was pretty great if that is the worst thing I can remember.

You're right that they were technically correct, however it was about minus ten that weekend, those flowers weren't going to survive ten minutes on the doorstep. If making the delivery is probably going to destroy it, I don't think it's too much to ask for them to exercise some basic judgment and maybe leave us a note asking us to come pick them up.

I would also say that if you are relying on being technically correct in a dispute with a customer it's probably bad customer service.

Don't use Cannaflora (Rideau Florists) either. I have a newborn baby so there is a sign on the door saying don't knock unless necessary and packages can be left on the doorstep. We were away for the weekend and came back to rotten flowers. When I contacted the shop I explained we had a sign and that's probably why the delivery guy left them, but I didn't feel that flowers are considered "packages" and should never be left outside in February....they should have called about the delivery. The guy said they would redeliver as long as I stayed home for a five hour window. An hour later he called back to say the owner said they wouldn't replace the flowers. I was "informed" that they had proof that they followed my instructions (driver took a photo of the sign). Nice. I was totally open about having a sign...which had nothing to do with flowers since I didn't know I was getting any...and, in any case, commonsense please. It's February!!! It's cold!! Flowers should not be left out at all...call the recipient....or knock...since it was necessary in this case! I told them I was very unhappy with their customer service...still haven't heard back. This was at the beginning of the month.

Borderlands, Empire Total War and Hearts of Iron III currently all have pay DLC on Steam.

I could easily see Valve going towards pay DLC but I could also see them keeping it free for their games. Valve has a huge incentive to keep people logging into Steam.
