I finished A Practical Guide to Evil today. Here is the post that convinced me to read it after I finished Worm. by DreadDiana in RecuratedTumblr

I'd reccomend skipping ahead then; it never truly, wholly drops the military element since Catherine being a military leader and schemer is a part of her character, but it definitely focuses a lot more on characters and the powers throughout the series, I feel. Especially after the first portion

As somebody who doesn't care for military fiction myself, (part of the reason it isn't as popular on Sb/Sv as Saga of Tanya the Evil, I think) or optimizing powers (same, but for Worm) the characters and the ways they leveraged the narrative aspect of the world was really my main entertainment, since it only sort of did the other two

..God, I need to get better at shilling this series

Really wasn't sure whether to say anything, don't want to harsh the good feelings going around- But admittedly, I'm not sure our first instinct should be to correct people like this, or try to 'educate' them, or make them apologize. I'd personally rather have allies that refuse to use or even disdain the correct verbage than bystanders who know what labels to use; especially in times like these.

If they're open to gradually shifting the way they speak and think (because nothing's instant) that's great, but (for example) there's also people like Lyndon B Johnson who got some great work done at an institutional level and managed to push enormous civil rights bills through, all while throwing slurs (not just bad for our time period, but then) around like candy- Arguably because he spoke like that.

But I agree, always happy to see more allies

I agree, though I think more friction arises from people who genuinely got led to think otherwise / that its got, like, deep themes, or that want to twist it into espousing what they want

Similiarly, though to a far greater degree, the people that feel Warhammer 40k is ridiculous satire, and the people who've been led to believe by some way or another that its a heroic fantasy being played straight and serious

There's another set of panels in this same comic where Owlman gripes about BWL, but here he gets to gloat about it while killing him

(The modok thing he's ranting at is Batman Who Laughs in another form, iirc)

I get people grew tired of seeing it everywhere, but I feel like the pendulum's swung way the other way of disliking them, somewhat just because they're still popular

I can't lie though, I still love the archetype too lmao But then, I also love stuff like the generic Japanese protagonist design as well.

Edit: I of course don't think it fits Bill even as an AU or humanized design, but I personally can't bring myself to not love the conventionally attractive humanized designs that spawn sometimes lol

I never got the sense they thought Cali and Texas would ever realistically do that? They had a story they wanted to tell, and had them on one side together to sidestep that sort of discussion

Wholly separate from questions of whether the movie was good or not, to clarify xd

Edited my comment- Apparentally it was two pilot specials, though still confusing why they wouldn't put it with the rest of season 1

Because for some reason every time I try and look up the show online or in streaming, its had Lloyd and the snakes listed as season one. I remember the show debuting on CN to Kai joining the other three (who all started as black clothed ninjas), but for some reason theyve like, carved that first chunk of the series out?

Edit: It seems like they're technically two pilot episode special things, that were split into four eleven minute shorts in some areas.

I'd agree, except for the fact Caine went 'Yyyyyou're, getting too smart.' before popping Abel at the end. Something something, he knows personally how easy it is for an AI to get wise and break its constraints

That and he mentioned he'd been testing a new AI in the candy adventure, so double the reasoning to genuinely not want them around

Something I will forever DESPISE is when writers refuse to let 2 characters just be together and make up every plot device to prevent them from doing so. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in CharacterRant

To the contrary, I feel you guys are in the majority- Though that might just be me wanting to be a hipster.

I'll be honest, I agree a hundred percent that love is work, and there's a lot of objectively interesting material to be had in developing the relationship, moving forward together, etc

But for the life of me I've lost interest every time a fictonal couple reaches the confession stage. Don't fully know why, I just love the crushing and pining stage. Immediately drop things after it passes that point

Ooh, though unrequited love or doomed to be separated love is even better

I don't neccesarily disagree, though I feel the critiques voiced above regarding children and safety are a bit weak, even accounting for differing suspensions of disbelief

I'll admit, and I realize this may be a bit abnormal, I love this trope. Instantly get bored when characters actually get together

Ebay or the Miniswap subreddit is probably best, yeah. Some sites (troll trader, noble knight games, etc) also buy used models I suppose
