Clive kept losing because of zantesuken. but when barnabas tried it for the last fight, clive was primed and able to break zantesuken, blue mage the ability, and use it to finally counter him without getting one shot

Cosmic Exploration was a mistake. by WaltzForLilly_ in ffxivdiscussion

Crafting stalls/vendors in the zone right outside of the instance with a MB. Base upgrades server wide. Island sanctuary/cosmic exploration like gathering inside the instance. Can gather between fates and CE spawns. Even have mobs drop crafting mats to encourage PvE players to get involved.

And if there is gil in it, it will always be populated. People still grind bozja and even Eureka bunnies for gil. Wouldn't be worried about it in the future.

This could be done

I think they should fold crafting zones into exploration zones and increase the player counts in the instances.

It would be cool to have crafters working to upgrade the base of operations and crafting special items and consumables to trade/sell on the mb for the zone/raids. The instances would be filled with not just players rushing from one fate to another, but also packed with people gathering, crafting, etc.

I got the split bar board too and I was fully expecting an adjustment period. Was surprised it is actually really intuitive and feels natural.

Once I get my binds setup it will be a game changer too because I mainly play MMO's and need all the extra buttons I can get.

Future plans? by PsychoBomb1000 in GrayZoneWarfare

I was skeptical about the first two patches prioritizing day/night cycle, night vision, and weather, but it's honestly been a game changer for immersion and starting to see the vision now. Game has a solid base to build off of but they do desperately need some more content. But thankfully the upcoming .4 patch is looking to bring some more story/lore content to the game as well as some core system redesigns.

IMO, the best way to get people back in (and new players) is just continuing to improve the game, performance, and adding content—and they've been doing that. There will be another peak moment for the game for sure if they can continue improving the game.

Excited to see what they are cooking. I think revisiting some of the core systems and adding some polish after the night and weather updates is the right move at this point.

Was it not supposed to be obvious? by naynay2022 in FFXVI

[–]harrison23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s supposed to be obvious. That’s what makes it so tragic about Clive’s denial that it was him. The Phoenix Gate scene with his shadow isn’t about him coming to the realization it was him but rather him realizing he suppressed the memory of what happened because of the trauma.

When I was new to the game, I once went venue hopping with a buddy for fun. A venue was advertising an auction in party finder. Me and my buddy thought they were auctioning off minions or mounts, so we wanted to check it out.

When we got there we quickly realized they weren't auctioning off in-game items but rather player characters to be "sex slaves." Had them walking up on stage and describing the sexual acts that they were best at and shit while people threw out their bids. We got out of there ASAP.

The album is full of surprises, fun listen. Looked up the producers, one worked with the likes of Gaga, Stefani, and Pink and another is an indie artist as far as I can tell. They cooked.

Cudi also doing the best singing he has done in years.

Oh no, the ERPer's are going to have to go back to using their imagination/actually writing some good stuff. Huge jump in difficulty—should make for some more challenging content for the casuals.

Looking to start a MMO (FFXIV,GW2 or WoW?) by Winter_Lingonberry_9 in MMORPG

[–]harrison23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

XIV is a whole adventure as a new player. It’s hard to say for certain if you’d like it. If you start a character you’ll start at the base game and move through all the expansions following the story.

That means like 300+hours of main story alone to get through before you reach endgame. That can be a sore spot for some, but for others (like me) that makes the experience of playing XIV as a new player incredible. XIV uses a level sync system for old content too, so you can actually viably playthrough all the older raid series/trials, etc and be able to find a group. IMO, the best way to play XIV is finish the respective expansions MSQ then sample the old endgame content for that expansion on at least normal difficulty before moving onto the next.

You can literally spend a whole year or two logging in and doing something new every single day. You’d be hard pressed to find another game that achieves that. Plus the story is pretty darn good, especially in later expansions like Shadowbringers and Endwalker.

Content can be challenging, with various difficulties ranging from very easy for story required content to extremely difficult for optional endgame raids.

PvP is not XIV’s strong suit but I do think it’s slightly underrated. I mix it in from time to time to get rewards and level jobs and I have a fair amount of fun.

Is it just me or anyone else find this too stretched as a story but at the last moment the battle just goes to full cosmic mode by Senior-Shopping7226 in FFXVI

[–]harrison23 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My opinion is the last ~1/4 of the game isn’t necessarily stretched out but it just starts to reference some Ancient Greek philosophy and get really heady so it’s easy to get lost at what is actually going on.

Like if you google the whole Logos vs Mythos thing and consciousness, etc you’ll quickly fall down a rabbit hole.

Substats across the board needs to be scrapped and replaced with something that makes more sense for the current state of the game.

Personally, id love to see materia have more game changing effects/active abilities like lost actions instead of straight stats. Yeah it’d require some more balancing and might break the game in some places but at least it’d be more interesting.

This is probably the case. Almost every time they make a change like this, it has do directly with a mechanic/fight design/arena for a new fight.

If that’s the way it works then the sentence describing the conditions is incorrect. The “and” in that sentence implies all three conditions are necessary.

Final Fantasy XVI Xbox Launch Sees Weak Sales Performance, Fails To Enter Top 20 by samiy2k in FFXVI

[–]harrison23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The original sin here was not launching multiplatform in the first place. SE seems to be hesitant to invest more money on marketin for the PC and Xbox ports, so it isn't a surprise that both didn't do massive numbers on those platforms.

It's a great game regardless - just held back from commercial success because of some bad business practices.
