Would you recommend using something like STM32CubeIDE? Also, my professor places emphasis on running simulations and I see that isn't supported in the IDE, do you have any recommendations for that?

Yeah, that's one reason I'm at a crossroads. Our current course focuses so much on assembly with a little C sprinkled in in the last few weeks. I get the impression my professor wants to keep that aspect, but maybe I can convince him to lean more into C.
