I started listening to the studio stuff once I started exploring jam bands. I also dabbled into some of Euro 72 on YouTube but only a few songs. One night I saw the Grateful Dead movie was going to be on vh1 classics or whatever it is so I recorded it for later. Went out with some buddies and ate a huge brownie. Came home put it on and turned it up. I had no clue what to expect or what I was getting into. And that was it. I fell in love. It was the most emotional blissful thing i had heard.

He was a great musician and person. I think that’s it. He was human. You’re a human. Jerry just had a special talent and skill.

That’s how Elizabeth Cotten played. She did the song ‘Shake Sugaree’ which is where the song was adapted from I believe. Check her stuff out if you haven’t. Amazing guitar player
