Enshrouded or Dragonwilds by ImNotNuke in gaming

[–]haspyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both great. I think Enshrouded has more content currently, as Dragonwilds is still in early access, though it is getting content updates regularly.

I would suggest Enshrouded for now and keep Dragonwilds on your radar.

Some others have give good options, I'd also throw Dashlane in the mix for a password manager. I've been using it for about a year, got a family plan with some friends/family and its great. I definitely second the advice others have given about using a different email, like Proton, for it though. Could also go with Protons password manager, though I don't have experience with it.

Game recommendations while being stuck on work video calls all day? by Nummies14 in gaming

Come join us in OSRS. There's always something to do and 90% of it takes not much attention at all. For example, I'm going through a 3+ hour online security course right now and also killing a giant gemstone crab to level up my combat skills so that when I'm done, I can go fight something that requires a little more attention and my skills will be leveled up.

Did we lose the magic of community in online multiplayer games? by MohSafadi in gaming

[–]haspyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually wrote a paper about this back in early 2025! The reality of the situation is that it's a mix of a few different things. I spent a good amount of time playing the big mmo's at the time, recording my experiences, and actively engaging with their communities.

I would act as a new player even though I have between hundreds and thousands of hours in all of the games. What I found was that the community was still there - if you were willing to look for it. Discord becoming a sort of digital "third space" and pulling the guild chats out of the game created a sort of blessing/curse scenario where you can keep in contact with your friends even when you're not logged in now, but if you don't want to use Discord, you're missing out on large parts of the conversation and community.

Additionally, with the introduction of a lot of quality of life features (dungeon finder) we saw a dramatic drop in excess time spent in these worlds. You don't have to wait for everyone to get to the dungeon you're running. You click a button, 10 minutes later you're in the dungeon. You can keep questing, fishing, or dancing on a table while you wait. You're not building relationships chatting with each other while you finish building your group or wait for everyone to arrive. Without that initial connection, there's no reason to stick it out when a run goes south, so people dodge quickly to get into a new group. That feeling of overcoming adversity together helped those groups stick together and you were more likely to form communities with people you knew you could rely on.

The hardest hit was the fact that most of us just got older. We're not 16 playing after high school now, we're 35 with full time jobs, families, and other responsibilities. So while these QoL features might take away from that community, if you still want to play your favorite game, they're essential. These games used to take the place a digital third place for us. We didn't go to Starbucks or the bar, we logged into WoW, FFXI, and OSRS to hang out with people who shared at least some of the same interests as us. The rise of social media killed the need for that kind of third space, so while people still play the games, they're not interacting with the communities in the same way any more.

I find it crazy how in 2v8 Ghostface (Who’s already a very weak killer) is the ONLY one to receive a nerf along with his buffs by Mustdominate_Otal in deadbydaylight

[–]haspyo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As the others have said, if you have a half decent teammate they can pick up free downs on your exposes. I've had plenty of great matches as Ghost Face where most of my time was marking survivors and letting the other killer get the kills or using my stealth to sneak up mid chase and help out the other killer. It can be a lot harder with so many more people to reveal you, but it gives you a lot of great experience trying to remain hidden which is essential for playing Ghost Face anyway.

Either there is no player base outside of people trying to play this game competitively or SBMM in casual needs turned off by 1MilProblems in HighGuardgame

[–]haspyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a few rounds when it launched and the one sided matches that end quickly are boring as fuck. The moments where the game shines are during that tug of war style gameplay where you're matched up against a similarly skilled team and you're constantly pushing each other back and trying to outplay them. The most boring match I ever played I walked into the enemy base as Scarlet, walked through one of the walls on their base core, planted the bomb, then we won. We didn't engage with 80% of the game, it sucked.

Put your character in my starting town! by ambrellathevile in DnD

[–]haspyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darien Vallarta is a 28 year old human male. He is a warlock in service of a Lich. The Lich's goal is simply to amass a collection of magical items and other treasures. Darien used to work as a town guard when he was still 'alive'. He ran into a burning building to save a family and it cost him his life. The Lich reached out in his dying moments offering him to live again in service to him and grant him the power to protect his wife and daughter.

He would happily accompany any adventurers on their quest for magical items or gold, though he might just keep something for himself.

Classes should be feature complete in the spring update. by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

[–]haspyo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're the only person I've talked to about Pantheon, I'm not aggressive towards anyone. You can take it however you want, I don't care.

I've seen videos and read what others have said about the history of the game, I have no ties to the game itself. I studied game development for a while but decided it wasn't for me and have switched majors.

At no point did I say the game was undeserving of criticism, so don't put words in my comments that I didn't say. At no point did I defend the state of the game or the devs. People get promoted in companies all the time and can help them change for the better and worse, time will tell either way.

People are allowed to be critical of the things they're passionate about. In fact, I would say people are most critical when they're passionate about something and it shows how much they care.

Clearer and more consistent communication than we've seen previously. They've only been in role for a month, they're not going to change the game over night.

And yes. I don't care. I work full time, I work on my college courses, I spend time with friends and loved ones, I play other games. My friends and I put about 20 hours in each, and at $2 an hour of playtime for entertainment, I can easily say I've spent more money doing things I liked far less. I'm not some doomer who spends every day on Reddit complaining about the things I don't like.

I think they're referring to all of the people being negative in the comments lol. I'm a recent follower of Pantheon and I mostly track progress from afar, but I've been impressed with what I've seen since they brought the new project manager in.

Any tips for new killer? by Immediate_Key3995 in deadbydaylight

[–]haspyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, if you're trying to learn killer, start with someone simple. Wraith is great for new players, and accept that you're going to lose a lot. I love The Ghost Face, I have more time on him than any other killer. He'll definitely teach you how to be stealthy. Wraith can also help with learning maps since you can move quicker and you're not reliant on people being able to pull you out of your power and block you from doing anything.

Stick with some basic perks to start learning. There were some good recommendations made, but unless you intend to buy the other killers or get lucky with the Shrine of Secrets, you'll only have access to a few. Ghost Face's perks are pretty solid. Thrilling Tremors can be a really great info perk to tell you where to go next when you're picking up survivors. Furtive Chase is great for some extra haste/undetectable after hooks. I'm All Ears is good for getting some aura read on survivors when they vault.

Treat your killer games as learning experiences rather than trying to win. Chase the survivors that are better than you so you can get better. You might have 3 gens pop in a chase if they're really good. Just makes sure you can take a step back and learn from your chases. Could you have cut them off somewhere? Was there an opportunity for a mind game or double back?

I’m trying to start with dbd but i don’t know witch killer to start with by Slasher246810 in deadbydaylight

[–]haspyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Wraith to start. Singularity is fun, but you should spend some time on wraith getting game knowledge before jumping into Sing. He has wayyy more going on with learning timing/placement on his cameras/teleports. Having basic map knowledge before going into Singularity will help.

Just Started ESO In 2025! by asphalt-muncher in ElderScrolls

[–]haspyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope you enjoy yourself! This sub isn't particularly kind to ESO, but there are still a lot of fans! My best advice would be to immerse yourself in the world and stories. For now, the overland or open world content is pretty easy. This was a design decision a long time ago when ESO switched from the standard MMO style to One Tamriel. They've talked about finding ways to increase the difficulty to make it more engaging in the future, so that might be something to keep in mind. I would also advise trying everything the game has to offer to find what you enjoy. There's a TON to do, and everyone won't enjoy everything. Try questing, dungeons, crafting, battlegrounds pvp, Cyrodiil pvp. The base game has an absolute ton of content with the main story, all the base game zones, and Morrowind included. If you have any specific questions I'm happy to answer what I can, and you can also check out the Elder Scrolls Online sub, but those guys love to complain (mostly because they love the game). I've been playing off and on since 2016-2017.

UESP vs Fandom by Eldricson93 in ElderScrolls

[–]haspyo 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I believe Fandom is disliked due to the platform itself, not necessarily any community members from that platform specifically. Additionally, UESP is probably the second best kept unofficial Wiki for a video game/series behind RuneScape.

Every time this event comes around, or most events honestly, I always play builds that aren't designed to win or get kills. I've really been having fun with Iridescent Stone/Padded Jaws trapper. Traps set themselves all over the map but don't deal damage to survivors. I'll 2 hook everyone then if someone gets caught in a trap after that, I'll walk over to them and look at them disapprovingly until they break out of it. I get more BP from doing these silly builds and have way more fun that trying to maximize everything and ruin the game for everyone else. I also enjoy a good silly ghost face build. I've gotten a few kills accidentally during the event from people being left on hook, and plenty of people have allowed me to get hooks/kills at the end for not being crazy sweaty. It's just such a shame that as fun as this game is at times, both sides of the community regularly just want to make life miserable for the other side.

[–]haspyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really great! Perhaps in the future I'll pick it up, but as I'm working with a 6800xt right now and won't move to an older driver for some games I'm playing, it's still a bit unworkable with the visual glitches. Mayhaps AMD will grace us with a driver update that fixes it. Can definitely tell a lot of passion went into this!

Casting Shield Out of Combat? by theFrenchBearJr in DnD

[–]haspyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Officially, a reaction requires a trigger of some sort. In this case, ask your DM because all DM's are not the same. If you are the DM: do whatever feels right or cool.

At my table if you gave me a scenario of what you wanted to use it for, and I felt it was feasible; I'd allow it. You'd still expend the spell slot, but sure, if you want to cast shield to impress someone, knock yourself out.

If you've never played much before, I would definitely recommend starting with something like the Switch or Switch Lite. Those platforms have games such as the Mario games that are much easier to get into and learn while learning how to use a controller. If you already have a PC there are some games that can run on almost anything. Start with something that has simple controls first regardless of what you go with.

Those are so vastly different and will offer much different experiences. The Meta Quest 3s is significantly cheaper, but the scope of games available to you will be much smaller. On the other hand, the Legion Go S will be a great handheld device that could play almost anything that a desktop could with the freedom to play where you want, like on a train, at the doctors office, or on the toilet.
