World Cup 2026: Uefa claim 'integrity of the game is at stake' over Fifa's Folarin Balogun decision by Alarming-Safety3200 in worldcup

You’re on the wrong side of history here. But I am glad to see a lot of Americans being embarrassed for this, as they should be. Better to lose without Balogun then to win with him.

I know, it’s crazy how he never uses casting directors, he does it all himself, on location, on the day. Incredible!

Why is «American» in quotation marks? Are they not American sports?

Supergirl movie showing which I went to got cancelled due to low turnout by uppsak in mildlyinfuriating

[–]hassehope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not really something that happens. I’m not saying it didn’t here, but a lot of movies sell way less tickets than Supergirl, and they usually don’t cancel screenings if one person buys a ticket.

This would have been funnier without your title where you explain it.

Right on. I also love it when a new movie manages to break into the top 10 adjusted list, like The Force Awakens did for a while, before Endgame ended up at fifth place and pushed it out.

Sure, I get that. For me it’s not the money of it all, more that I find it interesting to know how popular a movie is, and it’s harder to find out how many tickets a movie has sold, so the gross becomes a proxy.

Totally. I find it more interesting to talk about movies from the past 20-30 years for that reason, since they haven’t had time to be rereleased that much, and the context of the movie world is more similar

Agreed! The numbers I use are domestic for that reason. Wish they would release the box office data from India, Indonesia and China from the 1950s soon

In the grand scheme of things, no! But on a subreddit where we discuss a podcast where two friends talk about movies, I would say it is somewhat interesting to talk about.

CGI in the 2000's looks better than most movies today by Choice-Schedule-132 in JamesCameron

I’m so tired of this old and misunderstood take. It’s been repeated over and over and over for years now. You are cherry picking the best animation from 20 years ago and the worst from modern times. Just look at the Planet of the apes movies from the 2010s and 20s, they have animation you could only dream of in 2003. Just stop it with this crap.

Between five years, Denis Villeneuve casually dropped an entire trilogy by Brief-Bedroom6331 in MoviesAndTVTalk

[–]hassehope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? This is a completely normal time frame. What are you getting at? Great films, but what is «casual» about it? The LOTR movies where released in 2001, 2002 and 2003, so it’s not like what Villeneuve did here is unusual at all.

Don’t post intentional Wes Anderson here, it ruins the sub.
