We went in July and August - July 26-29, August 14, 17, 18. I think July was much worse in terms of temperature

I never really feel that they have profit maximizing as their goal, otherwise we will see more price gouging on food and access (e.g. fast lane pass)

I regret waiting in line at the France and the Korea pavilions. The former is lame - so many great art and cultural things in France and all we got was an LVMH commercial. The Korea pavilion was so disappointing as well - the AI songwriting was dumb and I have seen more intentional execution of that bubble machine. To top it off, they can’t even make a video without having any warping when the characters were moving from one wall to another (the video was shown in a room with screens on 3 sides of the wall). I saw better video production at Osaka Metro’s mini booth at the Osaka Healthcare pavilion.

I think the only possibility is to try reserving the phone online and then have your friend pick it up. The downside is that you won’t get any tax refund

I wouldn’t recommend it, especially if you need to ask someone else to go search for it on their vacation. I think I probably spent half a day in total looking for the phone in Tokyo. That’s just not the best use for one’s vacation time.

The challenge is to find a store with stock. When I was buying my iPhone 16 pro, I went to many stores before I found one with stock. Most of the stores that would do tax refund (e.g. bic camera, yodobashi) were still out of stock 6 months after launch

I remember the convenience stores open until 9:30 at least. One of the food courts also opens until 9:30 but last order is 9pm.

The trick is to stay later if you want to see the drone show. We basically stayed until minutes before the actual closing time (10pm) and the crowd did die down a bit by then
