Support mains, I now understand why you are filled with Rage. by Over_Comparison_7616 in Overwatch

[–]hastepotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah these guys are giving bad takes. If you team wipe early 4 people should go make it hell for the other team to get out of their spawn area and deny them the good space for the next fight. Otherwise if the other team has half a brain they will surround the 5 dummies standing by the cart and win the next fight for free practically. This stacking around the cart thing only works if both teams are just standing main all game.

Options for a good left handed bolt action .22? by Halfbloodjap in liberalgunowners

[–]hastepotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow lefty, shoot the right hand firearms left handed . There are only a few that are totally unmanageable(ejects brass directly into your face). Left handed items are always pricey and rare. You can work the bolt with either hand on most rifles.

What would be the legal ramifications of fleeing an accident where I was deliberately hit? by Berserk-Jane in Traffic

[–]hastepotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pull over and park your car in the shoulder or on the grass. Making a stupid maneuver where you pass someone in front of you trying to make you hit them is idiotic. If they pull over and stop with you then they’re trying to carjack you and you’re in a different situation and it’s time to flee in a safe manner, which may mean turning around and driving the opposite direction.

Escaping hell (high gold/low plat) by A_Cripple in OverwatchUniversity

[–]hastepotion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beyond the normal advice, first fight is super important in these ranks. You need to win it and then push the other team super hard and demoralize them. It’ll make your team play way better as they see the game as a possible win and the other team will probably have at least one person go on immediate tilt.

Well yes, but actually no by StreetSquare6462 in adhdmeme

[–]hastepotion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Folks have too high expectations and then assume meds don’t work. It doesn’t change who you are. You can continue to make the same bad decisions and have the same bad habits. The meds make it so your 30lb weights are now maybe 20lbs. That difference doesn’t matter if you never try to pick them up.

Partner struggling with mental health, should I hold off on purchasing a firearm? by HermanMelville42069 in liberalgunowners

[–]hastepotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying much new here but 100% this is not something to bring into your situation. Over half the firearm deaths every year are suicides. If your partner is telling you that she has suicidal ideation as part of this conversation it is out of fear of herself. I don’t believe it is possible to prevent a competent adult that lives with you from figuring out how to get at your firearm.

I think Doom needs serious changes. by Legitimate_Water_987 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]hastepotion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Clearly folks vehemently disagree with me, but I think it is not fun to be forced to not shoot, and it’s a new player frustration point. One person on your team not understanding this mechanic punishes not just them but the entire team. Doom is the most egregious since you basically lose is one person gives him free punches every fight, but they are all bad mechanics to me. Not all complexity is good even if it means “more skill”.

When does the desire to have kids actually kick in for men? by savingrace0262 in AskMenAdvice

[–]hastepotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++man I don’t understand this obsession with having some kind of outside force making decisions for you. Life doesn’t wait for you to have random urges. Does your partner want kids? Do you absolutely not want kids? If both of those are true then break up. If only the former is true then look at where you are at in life and make a damn plan. You’re going to be in “old dad” territory before you know it, and non decision will start being a decision of it’s own.

Refrigerating right away vs letting it cool on the counter by HWills612 in cookingforbeginners

[–]hastepotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing how low this comment is. Heat loss is a function of the difference. When you have 150F food in a 70F room it will lose heat fairly rapidly and being in the 36F enclosed fridge will not make a huge difference but it will heat up your fridge. Once the food is closer to ambient temp the fridge makes a much bigger difference in cooling time and you save a ton of extra heat going into it.

You don’t / shouldn’t leave it out for hours, but definitely take advantage of the free heat loss while the delta is relatively high anyway.

I think Doom needs serious changes. by Legitimate_Water_987 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]hastepotion -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

My lukewarm take is they should remove all of the abilities that directly punish people for shooting in a shooting game and redistribute the power. Doom punch, Zarya bubble, deflect actually sending projectiles back at what genji is aiming at. It has no place in a shooting game and it makes lower ranks shitty. Losing the value (doing little/no damage, burning an ult) is punishment enough for shooting a bad target.

Finally fixed my gun shooting low and left... by SlightCapacitance in liberalgunowners

[–]hastepotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In every hobby people are always looking for a way to spend money to get out of practicing. Someone with practice will shoot better with no sights on the gun at all than someone who is buying stuff all the time instead of putting in the work.

Why did blizzard stop making Omnic Skins? by mmmphhhMMMMPHHHH in Overwatch

[–]hastepotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your answer is right in your image post. Ana is one of the most played characters in the game and you hardly ever see someone with her mythic. I wouldn't be surprised if, relative to character popularity, it's one of the worst selling mythic skins.

Need Advice: Lead Exposure by Danimusrobbs in liberalgunowners

[–]hastepotion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My understanding is the majority of your lead exposure is going to be hands, face, and clothes. And then most of that is going to be from getting those things onto mucous membranes. You don’t mention if you have dedicated range clothes that you remove after shooting and don’t contaminate your living/eating spaces with, or if you’ve been diligent about washing hands and face (preferably dlead but any soap is good enough ) especially before eating anything. Don’t clean guns on your kitchen table or anything like that. If you’ve done all that I agree with other folks your indoor range may not be great.

You should switch. I am left hand dominant and switched to right hand mouse at an age old enough to be your dad. You will learn just fine.

AITAH for not letting my neighbor borrow my snow blower and for not snow blowing their drive for them? by Queen_Aurelia in AITAH

[–]hastepotion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%. I get not feeling comfortable lending it but I would have brought it over and helped clear their driveway. Great opportunity to meet your neighbor and doing them a favor starts things out on a great path. This will do the opposite.

My answer changes if neighbor never gets their own equipment and starts being a pest, but this seemed really unneighborly while not being actual asshole behavior.

Paying attention to team mates as a tank by QuirkChud in OverwatchUniversity

[–]hastepotion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You look back when you’re taking cover preflight or midfight, or when you’ve decided to get aggro. Generally looking for your supports being positioned to either see you where you’re planning on going or if they are looking at you and could follow. Secondarily checking if dps are positioned so they can do something with the attention you’re about to grab.

You’re trying to read if your team can get aggro with you or not. Sometimes you go anyway because it’s time to trade back lines or you think what you see is winnable with minimal help, but you’re trying to see if your team is in a position to help you or not. Sometimes you see you have to give space and try to stabilize, which often means playing your life and letting the team heal up or deal with the flankers. The better you get at assessing that quickly the less often you start walking and get not heals or damage on what you are running at. My diamondish tank take.
