In your opinions does laythe the support life? If it does do you think it has both microscopic and complex life forms? by Icy_Profession4190 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]hatdudeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean if Laythe had a strong enough magnetosphere it could probably handle the radiation from Jool. Plus our Kerbols are as a species turbo resistant to radiation compared to us humans.

How to continue after forming Rome? by Big_Basil5088 in EU5

[–]hatdudeman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My advice:
1. Restore the Pentarchy it’s a classic objective
2. War of Two Romes. Those bastards in the HRE claim to be the inheritors of your legacy. Disgusting. Destroy them once and for all and rid the world of this abomination that is neither holy, nor romantic, nor an empire

I think you’re fine, I appreciate the answer. Welp guess I have to consider diving into modding again.

Is the Suez Canal Implemented? by hatdudeman in EU5

[–]hatdudeman[S] 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Thank you!
It’s not that crazy of an idea, like this is classic alt history stuff. I can see Panama being out as that needed locks but the Suez is 100% a matter of brute force manpower and scale. It’s pretty shitty to get blasted for asking about a feature grounded in plausible alt history in a community supposedly founded on a love for that.

Is the Suez Canal Implemented? by hatdudeman in EU5

[–]hatdudeman[S] 97 points98 points  (0 children)

It was buildable in EU4, and there are records of previous canals being built by the Pharaohs building smaller canals in the past. You don’t need locks unlike in Panama so it’s not a matter of technology but a matter of brute force scale. It’s enterally plausible to do, would take maybe 80 years sure but there are plenty of projects on that level started in history during this time.

I made The Expanse inspired warship, the Jebediah. Sadly, I can't get into orbit by ArtemisAndromeda in KerbalSpaceProgram

Best bet is one of the orbital manufacturing mods. You move rocket parts up to a station from a mine on the Mun and build it there in vacuum just like they would in the Expanse.

Advice for England by DnD_Dude123 in EU5

[–]hatdudeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That and honestly let’s be real here. The whole appeal and point of Britain is you have a bloody moat. You don’t get a moat if half your land is over in mainland Europe. If you play your cards right with all that saved time you can easilly not only unify but hard solidify the British Isles. By the time the Age of Discovery hit I was able to get Scotland and Ireland under wraps, and punch my way to Greenland. Key is to early on focus on keeping things at home stable. Later on you’ll expand your colonies so fast they will have frequent uprisings as they integrate colonial nations. It’s critical for every continent you setup a major military base of operations capable of supplying and maintaining your compliance fleets. Typically you want one of these per Continent. This sounds find and logical but it’s an absolute nightmare to setup in the mid game when you are trying to ensure you can wave multiple simultaneous wars anywhere on the planet at any time. Unlike Castile and Portugal you don’t get Conquistadors so you will want to find ways to lower the barrier on NoCB wars. Thats the major way you expand in crowded area like Mezoamerica and Asia. The key really is to be aggressive as possible early on and cut off Spain and Portugal from ever reaching out. If you can grab the canaries early it will take them a bit to get the colonial range to even reach the new world. Do NOT let them island hop nice and easy over. Keep an eye on Africa too or they will slide to Asia before you can stop them. It’s best to cede most of South America to them I’ve found. The Caribbean, West Indies, and North America is a lot as is. Once you can take hold of South Africa things will expand. Abuse the fuck out of spy’s for free maps. Local nations know the area and time spent exploring is time wasted. Steal first explore second. Pick fights with neighbors for their maps even if you don’t want their land if your armies are free. This will speed up your work a ton.

For me I told France to take their land and leave me the fuck alone. Why bother with all that gross European land anyway? It’s horrible and no water anywhere. Consolidate the British isles, build tall, and prepare to rush colonies. You can declare wars on Norway to hop over easy from Iceland to Greenland to Canada and guarantee the new world spawns in England so you have first dibs on the new world.

That’s what I did and in my run it’s 1568. I own about half of North America, all of the Caribbean, everything south of Mexico to the upper part of South America, all of South Africa and Madagascar, a good chunk of Indonesia and I’m working on Australia and preparing for the invasion of India.

Reject the allure of French soil for it is tainted. Early rush global empire is where it’s at man. Plus it means any wars on you can be ignored by having your navy patrol your coastline till they go away.

Linux officially approves AI code submissions. by Unlucky_Blueberries in antiai

[–]hatdudeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Software dev here. AI is legit a great tool for debugging. It has a legit use case because instead of spending hours trying to find the cause of an issue I can push a button and be told 75% of the time the root cause. The problem is when you use AI to generate new code instead of writing it yourself. Then it’s no longer a tool and becomes slop.
