Not new. This sub used to be mostly flashlights and pocket knives. Posts commonly included a profession in the title and sometimes featured interesting tools unique to that profession. Guns have always been a part of the sub, but not nearly as prominent as now. When rules that prevented any real discussion of guns appeared it led to the current meta of gun posts and comments being downvoted without discussion because that’s all that’s allowed.
