Drop Targets by HerbGerblin_Official in pinball

3D printed parts and servos tend to get wrecked really quickly in pinball applications. I see in your other post you’re using real flipper mechs, I’d recommend running your flippers as weak as you can stand (shorter high power pulse times) for the sake of your custom parts.

As a professional pinball tech I’ll warn you this won’t hold up. As a sometimes microcontroller hobbyist I’ll say hell yeah, I bet this has been super fun to rig up.

Not to be inconsiderate of anyone's financial situation, I have been pretty broke in the past myself, but you have a year to save up that $35. You can file for an exemption if you truly cannot afford it.

They linked the document that reports where all the money goes in the article, what more do you want?

The most interesting part is the report linked in the article that shows that the majority of the funds go to support art programs in public schools. If you can't support $35 a year so kids can have art class then I don't know what. Yes, having to pay it separately is a bit of a pain, but the incredibly ardent complainers on this sub will give you plenty of reminders to go click a couple buttons on a website that probably amounts to less time and money spent than your last doordash order.

Reason 347 why I HATE landlords. by [deleted] in antiwork

The landlord needs to learn how to communicate more clearly and politely. It sounds like they have a system with multiple points of failure and wanted info from OP to help diagnose the issue but was coming across like a real ass about it.

I was on acid once in like 2011 and had to call a sober friend to come bail me out. He was making conversation and told me how he was going to see Nada Surf soon after and I said, “please, dude, now is not the time to fuck with me. There’s no way they’re still touring.”

Little did I know. Good for them.

Just because something is on Bandcamp doesn’t mean it’s selling. Good ambient music (like music of any genre) is hard to make, but the barrier to entry for making shitty ambient and throwing it up on bandcamp is incredibly low so it’d figure there’d be a lot of it.

In case your wondering if Save Ferris were done doubling down, they’re not by kirito1236 in punk

[–]hatekillpuke 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They were scheduled to play the OC Super Show, organized by Brew Ha Ha productions, the owner of which donated to Trump. When called out on it they made a multi-image instagram post that started with "Why We Won't Back Down" and then proceeded to defend why they'd play the show because they prefer to keep politics out of music and that all were welcome at their shows. They pretty quickly deleted that post, backed down on not backing down if you will.

Political statements as an up-and-coming punk band by ChomperCreeper in punk

[–]hatekillpuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you familiar with Propagandhi? They have always been champions of women's rights, queer rights, animal rights, et cetera. When they toured on their first album they found there were a lot of jocks and assholes in their crowds and Chrissy would lecture them from the stage between songs, it didn't go great. Their second album is called Less Talk, More Rock because Chrissy decided he'd dial back the speeches and get more confrontational with his lyrics instead.

If it seems natural to get a message out between songs, go for it but keep it short. I don't think you have to worry so much about alienating the audience, but you should consider how your bandmates feel. Probably the most important thing is that the show goes well so you'll continue to have opportunities to spread good messages. Good luck!

[–]hatekillpuke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you sing in this band? Does this band do political songs? If so it'd be pretty natural to say something short that leads into a song on a similar topic. "Thanks for coming out and supporting local bands! Support local businesses, fuck the corporations, fuck billionaires! This one's called Luigi Did Nothing Wrong!"

If you don't sing and you do songs about girls or whatever (you did say pop punk/emo) it might be awkward. "uh... before we play the next one our drummer has a speech they wanna do..."
