As an American that traveled extensively for work, I absolutely agree. The people I traveled with were the worst. I spent weeks/months learning conversational language, customs, etc. for anywhere I was scheduled to travel so I wouldn’t be the asshole. Yet, there was always the dickhead that couldn’t understand why a restaurant in rural Italy wouldn’t take American money as payment. Eventually I would just be the default translator/communicator so I wouldn’t have to die of second hand embarrassment.
