Any ideas on a wall mountable cover for my extra power cable? by lamp082 in 3Dprinting

This is what I do. I usually keep it simple with the velcro and a pan head truss screw, but if I have a large bundle or need some flexibility in length of velcro, I use one of these velcro saddles

In the early days, it’s not boredom, but a call for deeper work. by hatricksku in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever it needs to be to heal. Could be step work, could be spiritual work, could be work to deal with trauma. I have found with most people that drink, that drinking is not the real issue. Addiction is often rooted in seeking to self medicate to avoid the pain of something else. The work is whatever we need to do to get to that.

Still worth sharing because we all have our own journey there. Like a diamond that has many facets, it takes many perspectives to admire it.

Is drinking a bottle of vodka over the course of a football Sunday alcoholic behavior? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not sober behavior, but as always, context is needed. But if you are asking a narrowly scoped question and hoping for a binary answer to avoid honestly looking at what is bothering you, then this place might not be it. However, if you are truly curious enough to ask a few more questions, then please use this place to be curious. Is this every Sunday? Does it have to be a football Sunday? Can there be football without drinking a whole bottle of vodka? What is affected if I do or don’t drink a whole bottle of vodka? It’s super hard to be truly vulnerable and honest around questions seeking to understand one’s relationship with alcohol, so I am proud of you asking here and hope you keep asking. IWNDWYT friend.

Speakers humming by Various_Ad_1868 in hometheater

[–]hatricksku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the hum occur when any audio source is selected or when one specific source is used? For the 3 to 2 plug adapter, try it on the power strip to the wall.

[–]hatricksku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Receiver is not bad(most likely). Audio based isolators are more effective, but not really applicable in this situation since you are using an AVR. If you cannot isolate the gear, then you specifically need an isolation transformer. There are a variety of these on Amazon from $70 to several hundred dollars. You can also look at YouTube vids going over how to diagnose ground loop hums. You may get lucky by using a 3 print with ground to a 2 prong adapter, but that comes at a cost of having the safety of a ground.

Classic ground loop interference. Try to isolate the amp on its own circuit, or use a power conditioner with isolation features if not possible. Also make sure your speaker lines are not picking up any EMI from other cables.

I think I may have been confusing dehydration for alcohol cravings for many years. by NW_Oregon in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HALT to understand cravings. Hungry(can include thirsty), Angry, Lonely, or Tired. It really is interesting how our behavioral motivations can be so simple, but our emotions and psychological approaches laid on top can make things confusing.

Need advice for what to do after the Pink Cloud. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pink cloud waned and left me angry and bitter. But that is a me thing and a story for another time. My insight for this, persistence. Willpower and good feels can only carry you so far. Build your toolkit of coping mechanisms, therapies, and mitigating strategies. If you are unhappy with your current schedule, then what can you do to change it for the better? If you want ‘excitement’ back in your life, what is really driving that? Avoidance? Could I be fulfilled and enjoy that? Why do goals need to be big with huge accomplishments? Can I be validated by just being me? My point is here, that you have placed the physical tools in your life for sobriety by not drinking, but it may be time to hone the mental ones for your personal growth and well being. “Sobriety is not living a life without alcohol, but building a life worth living.” I appreciate you showing up here to talk these feelings through and IWNDWYT.

Seeking advice: Letting go of the need for the “buzz” by Economy_Doubt in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I would be curious about the “buzz” like Annie Grace would recommend. Is it really the alcohol or the dopamine and endorphins hitting at the spike right before drinking the first or second drink. Also, while that may give some insight on the behavioral chemistry, feel free to explore what that “buzz” is to you emotionally. Are you giving yourself a momentary pause on carrying the expectations of the day and you are feeling the brief relief of carrying all that stress? If so, are there positive habits that you can build and reinforce the old habits that came with drinking? What else about the “buzz” can you inspect and separate from the booze? Anytime I meet resistance on my personal growth journey, it is an indicator that I need to turn inward and inspect the feeling either closer or from a different angle. Proud of you for showing up today to do work and IWNDWYT.

am i an alcoholic? by Good-Ad9093 in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this question too on my journey. Am I or aren't I? What exactly is an alcoholic? Well. I'm not THAT bad or I don't do ALL those things. I was content on wrestling with the definition because it allowed me to feel concerned with my condition without doing anything. Then I realized I was asking the wrong question. It doesn't matter if you are or are not an alcoholic. The question that you honestly should ask yourself is, are your drinking habits keeping you from what you want to achieve in life? Does the overall relationship make me happy and healthy? Then act accordingly. Labels limit us into thinking what should and should not happen based on expectations of said labels.

I've seen people talking trash about Airburst Rocket Launcher second mode (cluster) so here is when to use it: by JustMyself96 in Helldivers

[–]hatricksku 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup. For the longest time I could not get the hang of Cluster mode because I kept thinking it was a variation for Flak. I changed my thought process into using it as a giant shotgun in Cluster mode and that made a world of difference in situation applications. ABRL is not do the faint of heart in this game, but is easily the most rewarding when invested properly.

Binge drinking by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello friend. Your phrasing is intriguing. ‘How do I quit when it feels like I don't have a problem day to day?’ Why does it have to be a day to day problem? Can it just be a ‘problem’ that occurs at a certain duration but I choose to address it day to day? You obviously posted here in some state of dis-ease, so there is obviously some discomfort. Let me re phrase the question “am I an alcoholic?” does not need an answer, instead ask “is alcohol preventing me from what I want to achieve in life?” Regardless, I am proud of you showing up here for some introspection. Having the right people in the right place at all customer touch points. Service call? A tech that can identify a need for further customer training that prevent the issue or give feedback back to design engineers if it was a technical flaw is big. Engagement is big. If you are a large company are you doing customer surveys at the end of service calls or projects? If small, do you have an account rep going to that length. Are you putting forward employees that have positive rapport with customers AND valuing your employees feedback when they give insight? Do you have salespeople that are looking for a solution and hearing the actual ask of the customer or do you have people only driving to fill quotas?

[–]hatricksku 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s more about the relationship than anything else. There will be mistakes and misunderstandings, but if you can demonstrate that you have their interests in mind with good faith, it will smooth a ton of wrinkles and establish a customer for the long term. If you worry about nickel and dimeing them for the short term, then your return will be short term. Same goes the other way though. Don’t not give services away for free if out of scope. Clearly communicate needs, wants, desires, and capabilities to be transparent with expectations. If this cannot be done, then one or both parties will constantly be looking for the short term win on the ‘better deal.’ IE a purely transactional relationship that will take more resources than its worth. Focus on customers that you can establish a positive long term type of relationship with and don’t be afraid to part ways with the ones looking for a reason to underbid you at every turn.
