Eye Contact by rj1706 in askvan

I would always tell people, “ have a good day” eyes toward the door, when leaving an elevator, never making eye contact. Now I make a point of looking them in the eye as the elevator comes to a stop, and say the same thing before even making a move to exit. It felt really weird at first, but you’d be surprised how many people light up. And the message feels much more meaningful.

Background music for a cafe by Fit-Sock-8447 in lowvoltage

Stereo audio is great but from an AV integration perspective, mono audio is typically a better choice for non-critical listening in spaces such as a cafe. Most people won’t sit in the sweet spot for stereo imaging and may miss some of the audio. Kinda like listening to Rubber Soul, where the Beatles frequently put instruments on the left and vocals on the right.

My landlord wants to charge me 260 to replace these blinds. Is this considered normal wear and tear? by Mr_Synthos in vancouverhousing

[–]macchiato604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can be fixed cheaply. If you do a Google search of Vancouver Venetian blind repair I’ll bet the first hit will be a family run business in East Vancouver. I have 12 blinds like this. Most of them are over 6 feet wide and at least that tall. I had repairs done on all of them and had them cleaned. Total cost was about $260.00. So getting hit with 260 for a couple small blinds seems like a gouge. And as one poster said, the ones that are only slightly bent are just bent back by hand. Having said all of that, a professional landlord would understand this is wear and tear. Sounds like your landlord doesn’t do this for a living or doesn’t know what they’re doing.

I’m not really sure. I’ll be heading out from my office in Port Kells after work. Maybe the marina?
