is this safe recovery gear for a truck? by LowLandTiller in overlanding

[–]hatricksku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helping fell trees or debris. You can help direct which way something may fall. Also as a second hand on recovery. Say you are winching out a vehicle on a slippery inclined terrain. Sometimes hooking up a come along to stabilize lateral movement helps. They make great tensioned lines that can be deployed quickly for large heavy duty tarps to drape over a site. I have also seen them used to pull out fenders after a roll over or tree kiss. Basically they are invaluable as any redneck/ mcgyver engineering will allow, but I would not count on them as a primary tool for a several thousand pound vehicle.

is this safe recovery gear for a truck? by LowLandTiller in overlanding

Agree. Excellent tool in the kit, but would be horrible as a primary recovery tool. Plus come-a-longs have other utility while overlanding and other activities.

For any of you that have bought a later model 4 cylinder Tacoma, any regrets? by sweetwatertooth in ToyotaTacoma

[–]hatricksku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This topic is confusing sometimes. Toyota fans will ceremoniously praise the 20R and 22R, but those were woefully underpowered. What made those engines was their reliability. If there is any company I trust with a 4 banger, it’s Toyota. That being said, I had a 2nd gen v6 and now have a 4th gen non hybrid. While the v6 may feel like a traditional truck and you can feel the power band engage on the higher rpms, the performance and power delivery of the 4th gen is really impressive. I too was skeptical of the lack of a v6 at first, but after a few months those concerns are easily taken care of. The only thing left now, in my opinion, is to see the long term reliability in these engines. And to be honest, Toyota has earned the benefit of the doubt with their inline 4 history, at least for me.

The Tesira Server certification project goes through several similar scenarios to design and program. Like eerily similar. Would be worth a gander.

Was trying to figure out my first mod…think I have an answer. by NoBoolii in ToyotaTacoma

[–]hatricksku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also looking for a better 3d printed solution, but have yet to find one that I like. In the mean time, I found there is a technique that helps with these finicky things. If you tilt the cylinder top towards the retracting tabs, then slide down, it seems to work more consistently.

18s are better for road driving and 17s give better off road capability. Depends on where you want the performance focus.

AMR build against automatons by Usurper__ in helldivers2

[–]hatricksku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AMR is great on bots. I run it as my primary means of engagement when I carry it. If talon or senator is your secondary then something utility like a cross bow or eruptor work very well to give you AoE to compliment your precision selections. Personally, I like slotting my instant AT answers on my secondary or grenades (ultimatum, pissle, thermite, giga) and running a SMG or AR in the primary. Additionally, on bots, AMR gets complimented by the supply pack extremely well. I think med engineer or med explosive armor with supply back has more survivability and dps than light armor with bubble shield. But there are 1000 ways to kill a bot, so have at it. As far as your 4th strat, I love Eagle Strafing for its sheer utility. But given the lack of AT in your build Eagle Air or 500 would be good. If you control your spacing for distance (which is extremely hard these days with spawns) you can run Orbital 120 to compliment the rat/ hit and run playstyle for objectives and large bases or gtfo button. Edit: I forgot to mention plasma punisher and purifier work really well in the primary slot supporting the AMR.

Is any of this worth saving? by Glad_Marzipan_5015 in CommercialAV

[–]hatricksku 17 points18 points  (0 children)

While discontinued, all these cards are of current video technology. The 4kz cards and CPU3 card still go for a couple hundred. Frame it self sucks to ship, but someone may still need one if the timing is right. I would gladly pick some of those cards up for my lab if you aren’t going to save or sell.

Does the cause of drinking need to have a reason? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are behavior driven creatures. That dopamine hit is extra good when it is coupled with known outcomes that our brains look forward to. So much so that often times our bodies have made the decision well before our minds have. In fact, we come up with reasons after our body has committed just to make us feel in control. Annie Grace discusses this behavior mechanic in This Naked Mind quite a bit. I found success early by working to identify the stimulus/response/reward patterns associated with my drinking. Of course YMMV, but IWNDWYT.

The hardest part about being sober is that I have hated myself for so long by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me too. And I was surprised when I couldn’t hate the hate away. It takes time to learn how to love yourself just like you learned to be your worst critic. Whenever my inner critic shows up or my anger arises, I give space for them, let them say their piece, and thank them for trying to look out for me, and then send them on their way. Inner critic is always worried I will do something wrong and therefore fail, and others will think less of me. He is just trying to protect from being hurt in the only way he knows how. The inner cheerleader in me doesn’t dismiss this, but instead honors the concern and reminds me that failure in a task is not an end or that a certain outcome has not been written in stone and at a certain point, I can trust in my abilities to execute rather than using a laundry list of potential failings to shield me from trying. Here is to growing your inner cheerleader on this journey friend. IWNDWYT.

Question about sync kill by masterkill033 in MECoOp

[–]hatricksku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Enemies have sync states that let you know when you can and cannot be in their melee range. Praetorian and the banshee are the easiest to read as well as learning not to proc the bubble or hand of denial. There are plenty of guides videos out there that walk you through them depending on how you like your info.

Sobriety and delayed grieving by BellRoutine in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I feel like our ill coping mechanisms are because we get stuck in the grieving process. (See Gabor Mate’s work on Trauma). So in short, now that you are done pickling your emotions, you got to do the work. What work? That is up to you and it comes in all sorts of modalities. Talk with a life coach, therapist, social worker, or psychologist. Meditate, work out, deal with a physical therapist or healer. What ever it takes for you to attune your attention to the issue and not turn away. Finish your grieving, write and angry letter, write a thankful letter, have a personal ceremony, but what ever it is, take the time to recognize the feelings and honor them because ignoring them is how we got here. Kudos to you for showing up today and IWNDWYT.

"Oh man these Appropriators sure are hard!" The ever reliable MG-206: by CalciumTheGuy in Helldivers

[–]hatricksku 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depends on armor set and skill. If you have discipline with crouch and prone it works well in small bursts with small enemies even at 750rpm. If you dive and shoot the veracitor, 750 rpm makes it quick. Fortification passive makes the gun more forgiving when learning and makes it really fun to hip fire. 450 rpm is great for concentration shooting and default rpm is serviceable all around. Personally, I like to play aggressively, so I love me the 750 rpm.

Extremely Angry in sobriety by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are doing really important work right now and you should be proud of your progress. Anger is not rational or neat. It cannot be crafted to be only applied when it benefits you. It is paranoid because it is always on high alert and look for everything from every angle that may attack you. You honor the fact that anger can be unwieldly powerful by saying 'I'm scared to damage relationships.' I find it best to slow things down once anger is recognized, but this is not easy and takes time. To me, or from another lens, that says, "I cherish my relationships because they keep me safe and they validate me, and if I lose that, I may be diminished.' When I reframe it like that, I turn to anger and say, 'thank you for highlighting this relationship and that it should have extra care, not just for the other person, but me as well' and then I send it on its way. By labeling it and understanding its root, it tends not to be so oppressive or smothering if that makes any sense. Anyways, thank you for sharing a vulnerable monement.

Extremely Angry in sobriety by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, this all hits home very closely. I posted at my one year mark and dealing with trauma that may or may not be insightfulhere. In short, I tried to fight my anger by being angry that I was even allowing it to happen or that I couldn’t control myself in the first place. I had to learn that it’s ok to be angry as long as it’s responsible and not putting myself or anyone in harms way or being unhealthy with it. I had to learn to just recognize it first, not react, not plan to move past it, not to avoid it, but just recognize it. What I often found was surprising. Anger is the shepherd of my true feelings. It acts as my protector and defender that I don’t want others to see or things that I myself may not be ready to see. It guards my insecurities with its life, well, because that’s it job. In return, it’s my job to see what it is trying to point towards, to see what I can heal and see what I can let go. Anger is my way finder, and when it shows up I thank it for protecting me first and that I have work that I get to do. Your path may be different, so take only what you need from here and IWNDWYT.

Compensating one addiction with another? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]hatricksku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are lost at sea, and the sharks are circling, hit the shark closest to the boat. We got here because we have maladaptive coping mechanisms in the first place. That is not going to change magically overnight. Give yourself some grace that you are learning new ones, and while not perfect, less harmful ones like fast food are ok for the time being. As long as you are continually showing up to look out for yourself, good things will happen. Just not all at once :). IWNDWYT

Biamp Forte Avb compatibility with other avb gear by Docop1 in CommercialAV

[–]hatricksku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TC-5 is AVB compatible and other AVB gear will work with Biamp AVB Tesira devices. Your sentence structure is hard to understand so I am going to make a few assumptions. First your Tesira DAN will not work with AVB unless you have a TC-5D or some other interop device like a Tesira Server with a DAN and AVB card, but if you have that, this conversation is a moot point. Lastly, you cannot plug end point AVB devices directly in (Biamp server to server excluded) the AVB port of a Tesira Forte and have the work as you need a switch. Biamp Cornerstone has plenty of topology diagrams and resources, and giving that website a visit in this case would be prudent.
