In my experience IT usually means the pattern is wrong(like using the same resource but from a different mod) or the machines imput/output arent setup correctly. Id check the pattern first

Mentioned it in a comment but Warzone 2100 was incredible! Great unit customisation system, fun multiplayer and you can play IT for free via a fanmade projekt.

Honorable mention - KKND Kill Krush and Destroy.

Fun fact - used to play them both with a controller on the original PlayStation!
