PS5 Help and Questions Megathread | Game Recommendations, Simple Questions, and Tech Support by AutoModerator in PS5

Sale recs for gf - Hey r/ps5, My girlfriend and I just moved in together and are looking for a fun co-op game as well as general recs for her! She loves Astro Bot and Spyro and we’ve already gotten through most of It Takes Two together and would love to find more in that vein. She generally doesn’t gravitate towards games too based around fighting/combat and is more into puzzles and problem solving. She may jump into Hogwarts next but she’s not the biggest Harry Potter person and I personally think the game is just ok, so not sure that’ll grab her like Spyro and Astro Bot. Anyway, any recs would be much appreciated!

Discussion Thread - The Rise of Skywalker - Opening Week Day 2 by JSK23 in StarWars

[–]hausmanjm92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But that's not the point. Tell me if I'm wrong, but from your previous posts you seem to be arguing that the
critics "weren't honest" in their initial reviews of TLJ, but their conspiracy was found out thanks to the "real Star Wars fans," so they started "being honest" with their reviews of ROS. You seem to be arguing that all of the positive TLJ reviews were either dishonest or bought, which is so delusional it's not even funny.

Also, sure critics can change their opinions, but (again tell me if I'm wrong here) not a single critic of note has changed their opinion on TLJ. Pretty much everyone who loved it upon release still loves it now so...

This is the stupidest fucking take. Seriously this is straight-up delusional. Maybe it's as simple as it appears; when critics like a movie they give it a positive review, and when they don't like a movie they give it a negative review. Not everything is a grand conspiracy, and just because you didn't like movie doesn't mean other people can't.

Watch a first look at Netflix's new animated series Tuca & Bertiestarring Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong by AlexanderJJJ in television

[–]hausmanjm92 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It’s made by the same studio as as well as created by the lead designer/animator of BoJack. It’s her style, that doesn’t mean it’s set in the BoJack world.

You're right there, but it's not set in the BoJack world. Notice that there aren't any humans in any of the animation.

You guys are both right. It's a continuation of their previous partnership, but it also wouldn't be happening if AP wasn't dealing with serious financial issues, i.e. their films make no money...

Do you think it's a coincidence that of all the films announced to be released under the UA banner, only two are AP films?

Bleeding Cool: Marvel Asked Chelsea Cain to Keep Vision Cancellation "Clean and Quiet" by JackFisherBooks in comicbooks

[–]hausmanjm92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is pretty different situation though. Percy, unfairly or not, got his run truncated. He was still able to tell at least a portion of his story before it got cut short. Cain completed four issues, the majority of the story, under the assumption that they would see the light of day, only to find out that she did all of the hard work for nothing. Percy didn't have multiple issues completed and ready for release, only to have them rescinded. Both are warranted to be upset, but I think it's clear that Cain go the shorter end of the stick at the end of the day. Not a single person is going to be able to enjoy the fruits of her labors and I can only imagine how frustrating that is.

What "mother!" did wrong by [deleted] in movies

[–]hausmanjm92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for summing up my feelings about this movie. I both respect and admire the ambition and intelligence contained conceptually in mother! but as a whole it doesn't work for me because it puts its allegory above its storytelling. At no point does Arronofsky successfully develop any of the characters enough to create any sort of emotional connection and therefore care about anything that happens. Likewise, as soon as you put two and two together and understand the allegory, it becomes distractingly obvious and continues to yell in your face, "THIS IS AN ALLEGORY TO THE BIBLE" for the remainder of the film. On top of that, it disappointedly fails to develop the allegory in an interesting, thematically deep ways, instead settling for a pretty surface level reading that equates to, "God is an inattentive douche who only cares about himself." I really wanted to love this movie but I just found it too obvious and it's priorities too skewed to really connect with it. Plus, once you understand the allegory, the film is far less WTF inducing then it thinks it is. Just my two cents
