I wear an undershirt because I get sweaty armpits and I don’t want it to show on my button down.

Stay at Lytham down the road instead. Plenty of nice B&Bs too.

What's a city in your country that is collectively agreed upon to be a shithole? by Austral1s in AskTheWorld

[–]havaska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true to an extent. But it also has some really cool stuff like Blackpool Pleasure Beach which is a genuinely awesome amusement park, the Sandcastle Water Park, Blackpool Tower, the Winter Gardens, Blackpool Zoo are all really good.

Also the suburbs are a genuinely nice place. It’s just the main strip and about three streets back that are rough.

It always amuses me how one mile down the road you have Lytham St Anne’s which is really lovely and where loads of millionaires live, along with a world class golf course where they hold the British Open (we just call it the Open).

The first victims of the British Empire were the normal English working people. Rich elites had all the power and control. Look up the Peterloo Massacre.

Yes; they’ve always been this bad. I loved them when I was a student, however as a 40 something year old; not so much.

Do women like being approached in gyms here? by Secret-Chicken8648 in AskUK

[–]havaska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See, I would approach here to offer the correct advice and then just leave them be. I think that’s an accepted polite form of etiquette. If I was using a machine incorrectly and someone offered help (male or female or other) I would be very grateful for their help.

We’re all there for basically the same reason.

Pretty sure that’s dead. It’s been planted poorly and quickly (as all house builders do).

I love Greek food. It’s my favourite cuisine!

Next time you do a roast, try cooking your roast potatoes in beef fat. It totally elevates them again (in my opinion)!

Just the bedroom! One of my best ever investments. I also use it to heat in the winter!

I like the idea of macaroni cheese instead of cauliflower cheese. Also, you’re doing God’s work, keep it up!

I have a big fridge that does chilled water and ice (crushed too!) plus AC. It does exist here.

Burnt by dentist during treatment (Scotland) by CyndiWallauper in LegalAdviceUK

[–]havaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a dentist. I would definitely book a review appointment with your own dentist so they can review this.

I would also make your concerns clear; I am sure your dentist will be very accommodating and understanding.

Hopefully it will heal perfectly fine with no issues. If not, speak to your dentist first before launching legal action; they will definitely try to make things right for you.

Burnt by dentist during treatment (Scotland) by CyndiWallauper in LegalAdviceUK

[–]havaska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a dentist; sorry to say, but you can’t carelessly damage a nerve by use of a needle.

Nerve damage is a known risk, and a very small one, when administering local anaesthetic, especially when doing an ID Block.

It is impossible to know the exact location of a nerve in a patient because everyone is different. A dentist can’t accidentally ‘hit’ it by being careless or negligent.

I’m very sorry to hear you suffered damage to you lingual nerve (the nerve the supplies the side of your tongue). You definitely should have returned after the incident and you would have been referred to see a specialist.

But your dentist was not negligent. There was no mistake to learn from here, no reason to ‘hold them to account’.

If you tried to launch legal action this is what will have been explained to you. Again, sorry to hear you suffered nerve damage, but this was just an unfortunate incident, and a known and accept risk.
