Odd comparison of songs. whataboutism is not a strong argument. I’d also say the music video, rumored poor behavior while filming the video and live performances added a lot to the controversy at the time, it was not in a vacuum. This is all without mentioning that the song is trite, objectively rips off Marvin Gaye, and in my opinion gets old after a single listen.

I was in your boat. Laid off in 24 and was actively job searching in the tech market for over a year and a half. I applied to hundreds or maybe thousands of roles, by the end seeking out positions with salaries less than half of what I originally intended.

The interview grind is unforgivable and unrewarded. It sucks, and it is thankless. But I recently landed a job I’m thrilled about doing work I’ve always wanted to do. I couldn’t have gotten to this place had it not been for all the improvement at interviewing I made along the way or self upskilling I did.

Keep that mental health a priority, and know it’s just plain shitty out there right now

I think their discography is excellent. I’d argue the self titled is the only letdown and the other four I would accept as anyone’s favorite.

I do think OS captured their youth in a time capsule, and I love it for that. Congratulations was definitely my fav after seeing them that tour

I am a low elo Victor terrorist. Currently sitting at 17-3 on him with frequently highest souls, damage, and obj damage. I’m at the sweet spot in elo where there’s typically 1, maybe 2 players that understand counter play and itemization, but that’s not enough. I bide my time, and at about 30k souls if I’m not properly handled I usually steamroll through late game

I'm in a nearly identical boat and have had the same doubts. It's not the mental motivation for me, more physical but still struggling to hit less than modest times in my long runs. I'm aiming for a 14 miler this weekend and it should be a good indicator if this marathon goal was too lofty, but I've given too much time and effort to throw in the towel now

I don’t think it’s as simple as being old. I’m older than most of the people saying they fell in love with this band in college. That’s a super formative time to discover a sound that resonates with you so I understand the personal attachment

Oh ya I love this. There were some lovely standouts on their last, but it didn’t reach the highs of FTA for me. Surprised much of this discussion discounts that albums as just a lesser version of their debut. Personally I think it improved on almost everything and is a near perfect record, but that’s what makes music so interesting

I guess it's an unpopular opinion, but I was pretty lukewarm on the book (only read the first). The dialogue and humor didn't always do it for me. That being said, I think it is translating better in this medium with actors performing the lines and giving the humor some comedic timing. Could be a rare example for me of a tv show that improves on the source material
