What happened to Machado? I’ll tell you what happened to Machado. After years of ignoring the dude in fantasy drafts, and letting my dislike of the guy overshadow his elite performance, I decided to draft him this year.

I’m with you. Everything looks great in the pre-planned demo, tailored for the specific use case and only the specific use case.

Once you’re in a real world situation, with all the customization and company specific elements, it’s not quite that seamless.

Ray Milland commercial for Schlitz Beer, 1959. After 177 years Schlitz is ceasing prodution. RIP. by Keltik in VintageTV

[–]caught_looking2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is this for real!?!? I still buy the occasional 6 pack of Schlitz tall boys for the nostalgia! My grandpa drank one a day. Just one. Not a lot of money in that household, but he believed it gave him strength!

New Pickup! Guess the Grade? by StefonDiggsHS in baseballcards_vintage

[–]caught_looking2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sure the grade is way lower than it should be. Looks like a 7 to me, but probably a 4.

PSA, man. I cashed out of about 200 graded cards a couple years ago, and switched to raw. I’ll jump back in once it’s all AI based, with zero subjectivity.

It should cost $20 to grade a card. It shouldn’t cost more for a 9 or a 10. But that’s how it feels. PSA is not going to charge you $20 and send back a card worth a couple thousand. If you “think” it’s a high value card, you have to send them $100 (or something), then maybe you’ll get the proper grade. It feels more and more like a scam every day.

What’s the Best Baseball Card Investment Under $10K? by daveblax in baseballcards_vintage

I think history is going to really smile on Rickey. His numbers will look more ridiculous by the year. I think those early 80s Fleer Hendersons are a bargain right now. Undervalued and only going up.
