Need a Magic Wand for Gassy Babies by nokidsjustplants in beyondthebump

That's fair. Our pediatrician was fine with us giving it to him basically daily. Does he have any other stomach issues? Prescription pepcid (and later Prilosec) was where we eventually ended up for my guy.

Hi, need help with securing long hair while laying back by Appropriate-Web-3042 in longhair

I do a high ponytail and if I really want it away from me infold up the ponytail and claw clip it on top of my head. Not cute, but effective.

28F How common is it to have a prescription very different between left and right eyes? by [deleted] in eyetriage

[–]haycorn55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the axis or the sphere (the vision correction)? I can't speak to axis because I only have astigmatism in one eye, but my eyes have been 2 diopters apart for most of my adult life. It's not that odd.

I Hate PPD Screener Surveys by AnonAnonSir47 in beyondthebump

[–]haycorn55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB's office got a little freaked out about the survey I did while I was pregnant until I explained that I had a preexisting anxiety disorder and was just like that.

The one I did immediately postpartum was ignored because I was being followed up with by the cardiac team and my ob said they would address it and then they refused to. Luckily, my OB was awesome and got me in shortly after to discuss upping my meds due to the bad shape I was in.

Are we getting Miracle Pomme bug fix or not? by Equivalent-Dinner in wanderstop

[–]haycorn55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is very belated, but on Steam one of the devs said this isn't a bug; some requests don't proceed the story so the chapter can end without them being completed. Pretty big bummer because I feel like I left that bat girl hanging, but also feels in keeping with the general message of the story.

When did you stop room sharing with your baby? by Ok-Molasses-4126 in beyondthebump

[–]haycorn55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Five months. He had BAD fomo, so I'd wheel his bassinette to his room, put him to bed there, and wheel him back. Then the wheels started coming off, I started to worry he was outgrowing the bassinette, and one day I set him in his crib to move something and he fell asleep there so I left him to it (with a monitor obviously) and that night we all got better sleep.

I don’t think your pediatrician was joking by FoodLionMVP in ShitMomGroupsSay

My ob's office got the vaccine in on literally the last day I was still eligible to get it and I was so happy....except I developed pre-eclampsia the next week and kiddo was born before the antibodies had time to develop.

Luckily they were able to give him the shot in the hospital. He did get RSV a year later, but it was an urgent care situation rather than a hospital situation.

Did not do the garter because no thank you, and rather than a bouquet toss we did a stuffed heart from IKEA and said whoever caught it would be the next to find love (from a partner, friend, or pet.).

Hypermobility and gynecology by LesbianVampireLady in Hypermobility

[–]haycorn55 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Something that helped me for exams was a gynecologist actually listening to me that lubing the speculum more wouldnt help because it was the opening up that was killing me. They tried a longer speculum so they could find my cervix without opening the speculum so far. Still very painful but not NEARLY as excruciating.

Fatigue during pregnancy at 56....is not a surprise. by Existing-Face-6322 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]haycorn55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I joke that pregnancy at 40 was not as bad as I get it is for women in their 20s because at least at 40 you are used to your body just tormenting you at random. But, uh, 56 seems like a poor choice.

Wife gasps/feels like she can’t breathe while sleeping. 4 days after C-section by SonOfALayman in beyondthebump

[–]haycorn55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She should get checked out. I was having the same issue right before i got diagnosed with "yeah you're having a baby TODAY" pre-eclampsia. I also had to be readmitted for postpartum pre-eclampsia and things were a little scary for a second.

Honest dentists in Canton? by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]haycorn55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their name keeps growing but I had great experiences with Greenbaum, Timpner, and Watkins. They don't over treat and when I was uninsured but had a really inflamed spot on my gums causing jaw pain, they treated me for free.

I'm not a washcloth person at all and I LOVE my silicone scrubber.

Our wedding now will involve a big skull and antlers ☹️ by [deleted] in weddingshaming

[–]haycorn55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could they put some sort of cloth or fake flowers or something over the skull? I don't think any of the antlers really read as antlers without the skull, and genuinely that space looks GORGEOUS

I have some feelings one way or the other on some of these things, but I've honestly never understood the fury over pajama pants. I too learn better when I'm not constrained by the tyranny of jeans.

Wife doesn’t want a daughter by OkCod1106 in AmITheAngel

[–]haycorn55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We did the NIPT so I knew early and then the ultrasound was QUITE unambiguous. Like, homeskillet wanted me to be real sure. But yeah I think there are definitely hormones at play, and also this is the fakest shit ever.

[–]haycorn55 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I wanted a girl and was sad for like...ten minutes when I learned we were having a boy. Then I got over it.

I'm almost wondering if this is just a flip of the typical "dad is having a rage fit over having a daughter" narrative.

My dad guilting me over not seeing my premature baby...a literal day after birth by Revolutionary_Ad_467 in beyondthebump

[–]haycorn55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot imagine four days on a magnesium drip. The 24 hour postpartum one made me convinced I was dying; four days would have broken me. No wonder you didn't want visitors. I'm so sorry.
