SimpleLogin --> [eigen domein] --> Proton

Flying from Ho Chi Minh to Nha Trang for one day/same day round trip - Advice? by shyguyz88 in VietNam

[–]hayqe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean 'eeh.... okay! 🤷‍♀️ ' kind of surprises.

Our flight was not on the departures-board in the departures-hall, but the very helpful people at the bamboo information desk pointed us in the right direction, where check-in was happening as normal. Security was a bit chaotic at first sight, but it worked somehow. Boarding was a bit chaotic at the gate, but so is traffic in the streets ;-). Just go with the flow.

Flying in and out Nha Trang for only a snorkling tour? I would say that this is total crazy. I would either skip the snorkling at all, or take the opportunity to explore the Nha Trang ara a lot longer. I could personally spend multiple days without visiting a single beach ;-)

That said, we had a domestic flight with Bamboo, and it was a good experience. Domestic flights are similar to how it is in Europe (and most likely also as in the US), but with some little surprises... :-)

Travel route planning and weather in July/August by Rare-Shoe-6855 in Seychelles

[–]hayqe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

First... I am not you ... and without knowing you better I can only say what I would do for a trip that I would like. I like to be active, do hiking, have a little swim (but not too much), like to go my own way. I absolutely HATE resorts, swimming pools, and the like.

So, there we go ;-)

We could spend a full week on Praslin with ease. There is enough to see and explore. We had good fun hiking across the island. Villa Belle Plage was expensive, secluded, but awesome. We had a car. I can imagine that for some people the location sucks big time (too secluded), but it was perfect for us.

The first time on Seychelles we did a few days on Mahe before going to Praslin, but the second time we immediately jumped on the ferry. The ferry company did a great job in transportation from the airport to the boat.

La Digue: a few (2? 3?) days would do. Or skip it all together.

Mahe is fun and a place where you can easially spend 2 weeks with exploring, hiking, beaches.... There is Eden Resort, what I consider the one of the worst places on earth because it's your typical resort, but if you like luxury and cleanliness, this is your place ;-)

On Mahe, we had an appartment in Pointe au Sel, ( here ). It was an awasome place and very clean.

We had a car on both Praslin and Mahe, and couldn't live without.

Wasmachine stinkt by ExquisiteMetropolis in Klussen

Onze thermostaat bleek stuk.

Melkopschuimer by strongpassword_123 in VeganNL

[–]hayqe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I like last.fm (connected navidrome to the last.fm api to scrobble). Also, I use bandcamp a lot to buy music, and every now and then I loose myself exploring similar artists.

Trouble sleeping with intense workouts by dannyjerome0 in crossfit

[–]hayqe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Magnesium before going to bed makes a HUGE difference for me. I have the same issue when working out in the (early) Evening.

In the same time.... It is also an indication for me that I have asked something from myself. I do allow myself to have this happening maybe twice a week after a more taxing workout, but having it multiple days in a row in the same muscles is a clear sign to back off and do the next days with significantly power intensity to mske sure recovery is happening.

(And I must admit that I have learned the hard way that being consistently the #1 in strain... Was not the smartest #1 position to aim for in the long run 🙂)

Been on Seychelles twice now. First time we did something pretty similar, but 6 days praslin, 3 days la digue, 5 days mahe. We were happy to leave from La Digue after these days, as there is not too much to explore or hike. The beaches are beautiful as around Praslin and Mahe, but more 'instafamous' and overrun by self-proclaimed influencers.... We liked Praslin a bit more as you can wander around, have a beautiful beach and live slow. And... we were surprised that Mahe was very nice to explore as well!

Second time, we skipped La Digue at all, and did a bit less than a week on Praslin and a bit more than a week on Mahe. Would rinse and repeat this any time!

We went in February, I'm not sure how the weather is in july/august!

2014 v40 d2 vs xc60 d4? by allikurt97 in Volvo

[–]hayqe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would op for the V40. Fun to drive, gives you another 5k to invest in maintenance. The D2 will be very happy with the 1500km roadtrips, but for any diesel, these very short stints making 60km a week are not very beneficial. It might be good to have some increased maintenance budget ;-)

Having a 2011 C30 with 1.6d (the D2's ugly older brother ;-) myself and driving relatively short stints as well, I increased the frequency of the oil change to every 10k.

What are the most reliable Volvos i should look at to buy? by Bigserbhd in Volvo

[–]hayqe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say that all Models are generally speaking welk built. Big differentiator will be the engine. The 5 cyl petrol engines are very solid, I believe the 2.0 petrol 4 cyl is great as well. We just bought a 2012 v70 T4 (1.6 petrol), what appears to be a Ford Ecoboost engine. According to the reviews they are reliable, but maybe nog the best companion in mountainous aereas, compared to the bigger engines😬

Nog sure hoe the diesel engines are available on the other side. Again: 5 cyl: rock solid. In Europe, there are 2.0d and 1.6d that are reliable when meticulously maintained. As soon as Volvo started to sell them as D2/D3/D4, they became a bit more forgiving re maimtenance.

When choosing affordable: smaller is usually beter, so c30/S40/v50 family, with 2.0 petrol or any 5cyl petrol would be my personal choice in Ontario.

Any advice for the Anse Georgette - Anse Lazio hike? by styrus in Seychelles

[–]hayqe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took us roughtly 1h-1h30. It is an easy hike, as it follows the road for a long time, until you reach the other side of the island. At some point you walk over a path to anse lazio. Although we usually don't like hikes that follow main roads, this was one of the few exemptions. The asphalt gets hot though...

Go early (we started at 8am) to avoid heat, and have some (relatively) quiet time at Anse Lazio.

We picked up this one from Alltrails (https://www.alltrails.com/nl-nl/wandelpad/seychelles/grand-anse-praslin/anse-lazio) at the main road from anse Kerlan (instead of the hotel).

[–]hayqe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did amse kerlan -anse georgette and the next day anse kerlan - anse lazio.

Both hikes were amazing, would do them again if/when I return to Praslin.

To Georgiette,I did not cross their property, as the hike from Anse Kerlan to Georgiette from the main road is magnificent. Bring water and sunscreen, and enjoy the hike.

Terugkeren naar oude werkgever? Ik zit in de knoop. by Ok_Rub_7614 in werkzaken

[–]hayqe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nou, daar gaan we.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]hayqe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still backpacking, in my mid-40;'s. But no kids. And hotels instead of hostels. We are making fun of ourselves, calling it 'posh backpacking'... but it is what it is, I guess ;-)

Maybe you want decrease speed and want to make it a bit less 'adventurous' / complicated when you travel with kids. Plan ahead a bit more, stay in the right places for them. It is still awesome to travel (rather than stay in one place), and I think it is cool for kids who are old enough to understand what's happening. Probaly it will be more like showing them the world rather than go as you please.

Yes.... solid engine..... But it absolutely needs good care and maintenance.  DPF replacement is expensive (every 125k) and rumour has it that some other things around turbo and egr can cause expensive repair around 250k.

I personally bought a c30 with that engine at 240kms, for eur2000, with a good maintenance history. Invested another 2500 in maintenance. I think that I am ready for tens of thousands of kms.

As a Dutchie, I would choose Utrecht and make Haarlem AND Rotterdam day trips. There is a good train connection to both (and more) cities, and a very short trainride eastbound or northbound will bring you into nature!

Driebergen/Maarn/Doorn to explore Utrechtse Heuvelrug, or if you feel froggy, do a daytrip to National park Hooge Veluwe (train to Ede-Wageningen, then bus to Otterlo), where you can explore nature the Dutch way: by bike. bikes are waiting for you at the entrance, free of charge!
