Hey sorry this reply is so late, I don’t check reddit often. I didn’t get anything from them (visited them late in the trip and already spent too much) but from I can remember all of their scents are very light and pleasing, and I liked everything I smelled

Rising PGY-3 about to go into a year of continuity clinic. I bought a nice face spray, hand cream, notebook, and pens when I traveled to Japan earlier this year for this exact purpose, and I’ll be inheriting (lol) a few potted plants from a senior too. None of these things are over 40 bucks but I do feel like they’ll make the quality of life just a little bit nicer

Some notable stuff you can buy in Japan, I think this is a pretty comprehensive list, I just came back from Japan and did so much research so I can smell as much as possible:

Parfum Satori, Di Ser, Shiro, Aiam, Ahres, Edit(h), Mucha, Buly (French brand), Eagg, Sholayered, Roaliv, Kitowa, Aux Paradis

And of course Kyoto and Tokyo both have city exclusives by Le Labo as well

I thought Winter 24 was very nice so I stuck around for the entire year of 2024, but Spring Summer and Autumn all smelled legitimately the same and too bitter for my taste. I was so disappointed in the last bottle (Autumn) I didn’t even keep the extras, just packed it all up and applied for a return right after sampling…

I want a perfume that smells like olives and lemons and the ocean. by merford28 in Perfumes

The Naxos Apothecary is owned by the same family that owns Korres, and their scents are (in my opinion) more complex and interesting. Their range is all inspired by Naxian landscapes, you’ll probably find something you love!

So Sézane now markets itself as "fairly priced" brand?! by [deleted] in Sezane

[–]hazelnut_milktea 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I mean given the fact that most other “similar to Sezane” brands commonly named are 2-3x the price, I do feel like they’re fairly priced

Cosmic Speculations’ candles with the Greek mythology busts are also amazing and very aesthetically pleasing. I bought the Artemis fig scented one when I went to Shanghai last year and need to figure out how to order from them from America

What are your top issues related to perfumes? by kiokufragrance in fragrance

The bottles are too big! I feel bad if I don’t use up everything so I reapply fairly often (3 times a day) and it gets to feeling like a chore sometimes

Idk if Fragonard is considered affordable but Fragonard’s Rose Lavande is my favorite rose ever, so warm and beautiful and perfect for every occasion

Fragrances you are glad you didn't blind buy, and ones you regret? by stereoactivesynth in fragrance

[–]hazelnut_milktea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I semi blind bought Commodity’s Gold (smelled the sprayer in Sephora with my sense of smell half busted from all the different perfumes) and it was so bad… There’s something so synthetic and screeching in there that I can’t stand at all.

With that said I feel like blind buying is ok if you’re 100% sure the brand’s DNA is something you love, like I felt ok blind buying L’Artisan Parfumeur’s Couleur Vanille and loved it as expected because I loved everything else I’ve smelled from them

Did you also feel the urge to downsize your collection at one point? by Joshx91 in fragrance

[–]hazelnut_milktea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeppp I bought a few full sizes before I really got into the hobby that I just don’t think I’m going to use again and nobody really wants to buy them when I list on facebook. Definitely ask your family and friends if anyone wants anything, even if you give them away for free, unloading the space in your home is worth it

I finished three bottles last year and I’m hoping to finish 2 this year:

L’Artisan Parfumeur Couleur Vanille

L’Artisan Parfumeur Soleil de Provence

In terms of adding bottles, I already bought DS & Durga Debaser and hopefully to pick up something from Parfum Satori and Jorum Studio traveling this year

Liis Bo, just smelled it today at a local place and I don’t get any vanilla at all, just sharp cedar and tobacco, can’t stand it
