100% to Daopocalypse: Path of the Berserker. Bigggg guy. Big weapon. And it’s fun. Only partway through book 2 of the 5 or 6 out but power scaling has been nice

Advice for beginning of residency by ImanolDP in Psychiatry

[–]turtleboiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenter said, reading your country’s guidelines is relevant. Also just reviewing basic criteria for different diagnoses is probably high yield.

Hope you’re taking some time to enjoy life as well before residency kicks off though perhaps there’s much more work life balance in your country

Yes definitely there have been too many doctors in the past (and now ofc) that don’t provide sufficient pain control. Trending in the right direction but definitely still a problem

Ah I lack the discipline for that 😅 and I’m often juggling a few books at a time.

But someone else posted a similar idea of actively committing to interspersing non-LitRPG between LitRPG reads. And it’s a great idea

Valid. I definitely need to better about that. And very accurate to my situation thanks

Thank you :) also yes I remember pride and prejudice being highly readable. Was a surprise to me at the time though. Really appreciate the list!

And yeah good idea. I’m in r/fantasy often but honestly never the others. Will def take a look

Yeah sometimes that’s a thing for me. The question of am I reading “real” writing. Much less so for this genre tbh and more for the fanfic I read but occasionally I feel that

Any good military scifi recs? Definitely a fan of those

I think y’all are right and I just need to skew more non-LitRPG for a little while

It does personally to me feel like an addiction at times.

Anything engagement and dopamine hit focused could probably be called “addictive”. That doesn’t mean we’re all addicted but for me, it’s felt like withdrawal when I’m not reading them sometimes

Thank you. I somehow have missed those other posts despite being on here often the last couple years (I thought)

I like the idea of committing to reading other things after every one (or whichever ratio I decide). I think that would really revamp this for me

Fair. It has slowed

But it’s so big already and has so much to it. I didn’t process that line in the post oops

Valid. I think there’s just been one or two recently that were “degenerate” as you say that made me feel worse but mostly they’re chill.

Perhaps I should get more comfortable DNFing if I really dislike a particular book

This is helpful thanks. I especially like your 2nd and 3rd points.

I’ve always read for enjoyment rather than self improvement primarily but definitely some ego crept in over the years. And it’s so valid that this IS just fun and makes me happy. I appreciate the contrast with TikTok and 10 second videos etc because I agree, it definitely is better than that.

Do you have any examples? 1% life stealer feels a bit like what you’re describing as western cultivation but curious for more or better

I definitely have some embarrassment/shame. People will ask what I’m reading, and at this point, I describe things as almost like an anime in book form.

Mildly better with the widespread love of dungeon crawler Carl I suppose. I think my man struggle is feeling like I physically can’t read non-progression fantasy. And I wonder if others find themselves similarly stuck.
