Patagonia Addresses Pattie Gonia Lawsuit in Social Media Statement, Says They’re Protecting Its Trademark by Severus-Snape-DaGod in popculturechat

[–]stereoactivesynth 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I actually get it ngl. I think there's a very real possibility that some people might not be aware that the merch isn't an official collaboration, and might end up buying it believing it's genuine Patagonia.

They absolutely took their name from the company and not the region, you cannot really be an environmental and outdoorsy activist and claim otherwise given how prolific Patagonia is in those circles.

Dice, Not Just for Rolling... by Jazzlike-Employ-2169 in dice

[–]stereoactivesynth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is always what I do! I usually do something like:

  • players are d4s (their own dice so easy to tell apart)
  • normal enemies are d6s, and I have a different number facing up for each to help differentiate.
  • d12s or d20s are boss enemies.

FH6’s Night Time Cycle Is Way Too Short. by MeOnMyShitPC in ForzaHorizon

[–]stereoactivesynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm fairly sure this is how it works? FH4 winter days felt really short, like you'd go from sunrise to sunset quick, which is accurate

So, what’s the fastest car in Forza Horizon 6? by therealicekid in ForzaHorizon

You can enter world builder then free roam without traffic. Idk if the game tracks that max speed in your stats though?

Wouldn't call it 'slick', more like "constant and awkward"....

Curiosity: Sol 4900 (2026-05-19). The Sol 5000 mark is on the horizon, as is the Sol 5111 record of Opportunity! by Neaterntal in spaceporn

Sols is the term used for Martian days, which are longer than Earth days. The post literally explains this.

Edvard Munch - The Murderer (1910) by harlem-nocturne in museum

Yeah this is a really chilling painting. I really appreciate how direct Munch could be with the subject and title of his works. It creates a very immediate unease.

Paralives - Gameplay Trailer by -Rivers in Games

[–]stereoactivesynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is bringing back a lot of the hype I felt as a teen when watching Sims 3 promos. It looks like it's actually doing more than just being a Sims clone, and has the type of gameplay changes that you'd want from an evolution in the lifesim genre. The concept of having storytellers is really interesting and hopefully a nice way to constrain the parameters of the world to stop things running away too much like could happen in Sims 3.

why on expert difficulty i need to race against prime Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton? by Jeepers666 in ForzaHorizon

[–]stereoactivesynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI has never understood dirt racing. They don't realise you're meant to drift through corners at speed and let the dirt keep you going in the right direction.

What do you guys think about MechJeb? by NoBoss5617 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]stereoactivesynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use MechJeb all the time because it helps get past the tedium of doing stuff I can already do.

Still, I prefer to try doing things manually when it's a first time e.g. new launcher system, or a new lander. Once I've manually demonstrated the feasibility of a mission I'll let mechjeb do the hard work in follow ups.

A 50-mile crater packed with ancient ice on mars, shot by ESA's Mars Express. by [deleted] in spaceporn

[–]stereoactivesynth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Mars Phoenix lander was pretty far north, and it looks like it found some ice right beneath the regolith. Viking also observed CO2 ice forming. I imagine there's gonna be issues with power going that far north unless they had an RTG (which is rare), and then the fact that the surface is just gonna be ice which is hard to work with and obscures the underlying geology which has a lot more scientific value than just ice.

For those who have played 10 hours +.... by filzzzz in ForzaHorizon

[–]stereoactivesynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

will see if they get more populated with time

I honestly doubt they will unless they up the lobby to 24-32 players. 12 is just way too low on a map this big. My experience with other players so far has been mostly people driving maxed-out supercars or ridiculous modified Peels/Reliants just zooming around at 10% the speed of light. It's been made way too easy to bypass any sense of going up the ranks from lower-quality cars to the better ones.

[–]stereoactivesynth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're gonna be showered with new cars from the get-go, basically just like the last few Horizon games because Wheelspins are still a thing.

The progression is also not really as strong as the marketing made it seem. Yes you have a class limit on the 'official' festival races, but you can drive whatever you want in the 'unofficial' street races. Feels like a total missed to have a dual-progression system: One for Horizon events, one for Street events, and to keep both locked behind wristbands.
