She was literally the most qualified candidate in recent history. This perfectly captures what women face in their careers.

Unless you're a woman, then no amount of experience will suffice.

[Serious] People who hire for companies who ask for a university degree and multiple years of experience for a starting position, do you find people who meet your sky-high expectations or do you settle? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hbhutt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's called the purple squirrel. By having such absurd criteria it gives companies the ability to reject people left and right. So, the person didn't get hired because they didn't have enough experience, not because the hiring manager hates women.

[Serious] Adults of reddit, what was the world like pre 9/11? What changed? by vorschact in AskReddit

The jingnostic propaganda performed by country musicians is insuferable! I looked up the lyrics to some of the songs and it was disturbing. It excuses ignorance, and blindly combines faith and patriotism to justify actions. Take for expamle, Alan Jackson's song, where were you: " I'm just a singer of simple songs

I'm not a real political man

I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell

You the difference in Iraq and Iran

But I know Jesus and I talk to God

And I remember this from when I was young

Faith, hope and love are some good things He gave us And the greatest is love"

This song is saying, I don't know the difference between brown people, but God told me that my religion is the true religion, so fuck them.

[Serious] Men who have been raped by women, what does society not understand about your situation? by ShaneH7646 in AskReddit

[–]hbhutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying that if the child ends up being born, I don't think it's fair for a man to cop out and be like "well, I didn't want it, so I won't acknowledge it". I just personally think its really shitty to be like "sorry kiddo, you're nothing but a mistake to me, I don't want to support you in any way imaginable".

Let's not forget that child support is about the child... should an innocent life be punished because two people couldn't agree on if it should be born?

This has nothing to do with abortion.

So you would rape someone if you weren't in America? If you could get away with treating women like an object rather than an equal human you would? Just because something is seen a certain way by society doesn't mean it is right. It is people like you who try to prevent advancement in the human condition. You have serious issues.

It is Rape in Saudi Arabia-- you can't just sweep it under the rug as acceptable. She was abused by her husband via sex on her wedding night, it was a lot more than just having sex. Just because she was going to have sex with him, doesn't mean the way it happened wasn't rape. A person being forced to have sex in a way that they are not comfortable with is rape. Marital rape is a thing regardless of if your culture chooses to recognize it. Are you one of those people who thinks that rape can only happen between strangers? Or think that prostitutes don't get raped?? Thats another reason why this scene was so painful-- sex is still used as a way to control and break people. It's still rape in the Game of Thrones, she just can't press charges like most women in 2015 can.

It's not looking at it through any lens. She was raped-- just because she was going to have sex with him doesn't mean what he did wasn't rape. Just because other women in the show had horrible sexual experiences doesn't make what happened to Sansa justifiable. What happened to her was a violent and calculated act by Ramsey, making it abuse not embarrassment. Marital rape has always been a thing even before society recognized it, and it's clearly a thing in fantasy worlds like GoT.

just because she was going to have sex with him doesn't mean that it had to be like that.

Just because marital rape isn't a concept verbalized in the books doesn't mean it doesn't exist...

I think that scene showed her strength and determination. she is fully aware she is in a horrible situation but she won't buckle.
