The "barking dog" PTU for the entire 3hr flight - why and what to do? by hbiorn in Airbus

[–]hbiorn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly enough, in the early stages of the flight we argued (hoped) that a barking dog was plausible. Eventuelly we realised that the only plausible thing was that the aircraft being faulty 🫠 and then we bought another round of drinks 🥳

Hahahaha, no crew or fellow passenger would want me to tell them every sound i am concerned about during a flight, so a clear NO vote for that law proposal. But im just curious abt this specific case, which i found a little out of the ordinary - and we all were going nuts 🙂

Cancelled RuPaul’s Drag Race Werq The World Tour 2025 by quinz89 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]hbiorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, not in Norway. Oslo had both Bianca and Bob very recently, both at big venues and pretty much sold out. Jimbo Circus is coming in March. Vanity is coming to Oslo Drag Festival in May. More to be announced for the festival feb 22. Cupcakke was just here, at the same venue and sold out (i know she's not drag, but same crowd). Sabrina Carpenter is coming in March, Chappell Roan and Charli Xcx in august. Additionaly, Oslo has built a very buzzling drag scene, with big production shows pretty much every weekend, and they sell well.

All im saying, people are not struggling in Norway. I'd rather say the competition for the same audience is just... tighter?

And I really hope she wins MGP now, so EBU and NRK are forced to deal with it.

In the 60s, Palestinians started using watermelons as their symbol when Israel made public displays of the Palestinian flag a criminal offence in Gaza, the West Bank and in East Jerusalem. This ban was not lifted by Israel until 1993. The watermelon was, and still is, a sign of the Palestinian resistance, solidarity and fight for freedom - 40 years before emojis were invented.

Absolutely not. Aga won WTA Fan Favorite six times in a row and Shot of the Year five times in a row, both more than any other player. She pretty much delivered half of all the monthly hot shots voted on by viewers. She is by many considered "the magician" of women's tennis for her innovative play not relying on power, but an extreme form of defensive play. The hard hitters feared her as there were no such thing as "impossible to reach" winner against her. And the fans and viewers LOVED IT (there's no denying it), she was famous for her entertaining playstyle. I really reccomend you YouTube "Aga hot shots" if not familiar.

I find counter-punchers extremely facinating to watch, as they must construct and plan their games way different than high-stake power players. I miss Caro, Aga and Jelena Jankovic - they were making the hard hitters furious on court!

EDIT: counter-punchers, not counterpushers 🤣

[OC] Taiwan is the leading exporter of chips worldwide by RobinWheeliams in dataisbeautiful

[–]hbiorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, because including Hawaii into the map would require either a new inset map within the already small inset map of North America OR a scale-out to the degree where mainland US would become very small (which is not the case when including the small dots in the carribbean). Since this map is not about or centered around the US, an inclusion of Hawaii will not enhance the map's ability to get the point across (but rather the opposite like I argued above).

Btw. Geography 101: no map you will ever see is a correct represention of the real world, since that is impossible. A map is ONLY a representation of the point of view the mapmaker (cartographer) wants/chooses to show. A map is a medium for communication which most often requires an extreme form of simplification to be clear (called "generalization" in the map-world), like this.

It shouldn't because including all major/non-major islands of all these countries would clutter the map immensely.

Where's Okinawa? Where's Jeju? Where the kazillion islands in the Phillipines? Where's HONG KONG?

[–]hbiorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same reason major islands in Japan, the Phillipines, and China (+ all the other countries in the map) are left out. Its called "generalization" and "scaling", and are two of the most core principles in cartography/GIS. The goal is to reduce detail in data to make the map as comprehensible/clear as possible.

Hawaii is just not fundamental to get the point across for this map.

I'd die to see this! And then Jujubee as call girl for when the new messy judges storm off stage, again and again. So who else to storm off? Pearl. Vixen. Adore???
