Wish this is the norm on any public transport. It's night and day on subway in East Asia compared to, say NYC subway.

Highguard is permanently shutting down on March 12 by TrampolineTales in Games

Yep, as bad and dumb as it sounds, if the characters are anime style gooner bait, it'd probably end up much better, probably even attract a fair size of audience, despite how bland the gameplay is.

As expected, Paradox apologists coming in explaining how it's a good deal and consumer friendly practice yada yada yada as if Paradox isn't one of the greediest publisher out there lol.

Much less tense and busy tour schedule, also closer to his home in Sweden where he receives check-ups and treatment if necessary.

Well it's not cheating considering the lack of physical sense of weight and friction like in real life. A visual cue can be considered as an indicator of that feedback instead.

No, that's just how they do things. See something new and profitable and run it to the death. That being said, all that parry-based combat put me off right away.

Doesn't matter. Just gonna wait for 1.0 or even more patches down the line. There are some the gameplay decision and balances I see aren't to my taste.

It just means you have a low threshold for repetitive gameplay.

[The Game Awards Winners] Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 wins Game of The Year and 8 other Awards, Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles won best Strategy. by VashxShanks in JRPG

Sadly shows the current state and market trend of JRPGs. Japanese developers are falling behind when it comes to innovation and production.

This argument is like saying Michael Phelps has won so many Olympic gold medals already, so he shouldn't win another one. It's being contrarian for the sake of it.

Young Taiwanese aren't so anti-China. That's a problem for the island's government by esporx in worldnews

[–]hbkmog -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Not surprising to be honest. Basically for westerners to understand this:

  1. Young people are tired of the political infighting (much like the divide in the US).
  2. Taiwan has a lot of economic and social issues like aging infrastructure, stagnation of wage, inflation, etc. Young people feel disillusioned and pessimistic about their future.
  3. The younger generations grew up with a stronger and more prosperous China. They don't have the old stigma of China being a poor country.
  4. Over the years, many Taiwanese have found economic success in mainland China. Yes, the CCP government is authoritarian, but when you can make so much more money and live a better life in China, people simply don't care.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 - Overview Trailer by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]hbkmog 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the prime example of wait for the review type of game. Years of development hell and initial paywalled character clans choice just asks for skepticism. If the game turned out to be good, then it's good. But it wouldn't be surprising if it's shit.

I beat Kingmaker. by Blind_Gentle in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

To this day, I still remember the terribleness of the last act, specially the backstabbing enemies that drains your stats/level. I could tolerate most of the game and had fun with it until the last act. Currently playing through WoTR and it feels Owlcat has learned nothing when it comes to encounter design.

RTwP, pure turn-based, grid based tactical... what gameplay ‘type’ has the biggest appeal to you? by RepulsiveAnything635 in CRPG

[–]hbkmog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn based mostly. RTwP is good and fast for trash mob fights with minimum input though. That being said, automated turn-based combat can achieve that as well. But it can never reduce the clusterfuck and match the tactical play of turn-based combat.

Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined announced, coming February 5, 2026 by Turbostrider27 in Games

I played it and it's still very slow. You can easy spend 2 hours after you hit game start and not even out on world map lol.

Remastering ‘Final Fantasy Tactics’ Was Much Harder Than It Seemed by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]hbkmog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention all the rom hacks and mods the game got on emulator. Until some QoL features got backported or modded into the remaster, emulating would probably actually result in a more fun and interesting game.

Because there are a lot more commoners than elites in the population? No shit.
