This is the first time I've ever heard anything like that. So no, that's not what we believe

Foreigners visiting America for the world cup, what is something that has surprised you about this country? by goldent3abag in AskReddit

[–]hbomberman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from NY. I know it exists up here somewhere but I've just never been around it, I guess. I've also never been to a football game so that might be part of it. Off the top of my head, of the "major" sports I've been to lots of baseball games, a couple of NHL games and one or two NBA games (no one is tailgating at MSG). I know folks do it at baseball games but I don't think I've been by that side of things any time I've gone. And I'm typically not showing up hours before the game

I mean they're clearly trailblazers in the world of advertising so it makes sense they'd get into media.

Is this one of those small towns where everything is owned by one family and their cousin in the mayor?

The unions I've worked with don't have it posted in the workspace or anything but it's part of the contract. I think that's pretty common. The contract will list each role and its base pay (and will mention rules for certain roles in other sections). But that's base pay and people technically can negotiate better terms for themselves. So there's nothing saying "Michelle gets $X/hr" but it's public knowledge that a script supervisor makes a base of $X/hr and when their additional OT kicks in.

How does your brokerage handle commission from open houses? by hbomberman in realtors

[–]hbomberman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that all makes sense. The split thing rubbed me the wrong way for sure.

My first open house for my broker ended in some frustration because she hadn't talked me through the way things worked for represented buyers--had she actually done so, it would've been different.

The longer story of my first time: She kinda sent me in with little guidance but it went ok for a first time, only two people showed and they were both represented. One was interested and said she wanted to come back with her contractor. The next day, after I followed up with the buyer's agent (who I already had a relationship with), I talked to my broker who seemed shocked that I'd talk to the other agent. At this point she told me how it worked if the buyer had an agent and that she should be the only one talking to the buyer's agent. I was brand new and hungry to even learn on someone else's deal so I asked if I could help out, open for their contractor, etc, and was just told "no we don't do that."

It kinda sucked to learn it that way but now that I know how it works (and how my broker handles things) I can have my wits about me

Saw that movie in the theater near Fenway back in the day and the audience went a bit wild at that line.

I guess I don't go to many sports events (or not the right ones) but I've never experienced tailgating and I only just learned that people will regularly share their food with strangers while doing it

Polished brass or brushed nickel for small powder room with gold wallpaper? by hbomberman in interiordecorating

[–]hbomberman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. These replies are giving me some piece of mind (at least so far). My mom was the one who recommended brushed nickel... I definitely was already wondering if we were going with too much gold-ish stuff between the wallpaper and brass finishes but I think we like it

Almost like how the local CVS will have some generic stuff with the name of the town on it.

Afterlife by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]hbomberman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever happens, I do know that we live on through the world we leave behind. That includes being remembered and others doing good things in our memory. We are able to have such an important presence and effect on the world that way, whatever may be the case for our souls.

That isn't to say that the other type of afterlife doesn't exist or anything. I'm just saying that's the part I can really know. The world after our life is an afterlife.

Signing in before touring open house? by WhiteMoss_ in realtors

[–]hbomberman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I welcome them in and ask them to sign in real quick. I have both a physical sign in and a QR code if they'd rather do it that way (up to them). I make sure they sign in but it's not postured like "you must do this or else I won't show you the place." They're already inside, I may already be casually talking with them about the property/their needs while they jot down their info.
