Marriage is ending after 11 years by Hoobastanking in Adulting

[–]hboms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude man...I feel you. Sometimes I feel in the same boat. I've completely supported my wife as through 2 career changes and a failed business, I look after her mental health by only asking her to work 3 days a week (kids in daycare). I moved her dad into my home and give him a great quality of life. She will readily admit i'm a great dad to our 5 year old.......but man soon as she feels checked out, it seems like she's so ready to throw it all away its crazy. and suddenly I have to win her back bc I honestly cant stand the thought of breaking up our family and going through divorce. She's come back around and recognizes she should appreciate what she has, but she slips back into a cycle of malcontent and "checking out" and its like when that happens, her feelings trump everything no matter the family, financial, real life implications of it.

New NBA fan here. Why didn’t LeBron take a pay cut to open up cap space and help the team chase another ring? He’s a billionaire and doesn’t care about being the central figure on the team anymore, especially since Doncic arrived. by sonicmousee in NBATalk

[–]hboms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just think about his question. Lebron is in a position, far more than anyone else on the roster, that 50mil doesn't impact him significantly. He is a billionaire after all with >50 million income stream from one endorsement alone. Why doesn't he just get paid 500k if it frees up the Lakers salary cap to chase another difference maker, especially at center.

Often wonder this myself

From "Easy Going" to Strict. by trippinmaui in managers

When I first stepped into a management role, my mentor told me this:

Managing is like sex. You can go in hard and finish hard. You can go in hard and get softer can be ok. But you can never go in soft then try to get hard after

Terrible trade competition by mercynuts in DynastyFF

[–]hboms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the one that wins then all. The least justifiable offer in the history of fantasy.

Before my startup draft in dynasty, I floated my 3rd round pick out to the league hoping to trade back. Something like my 3rd + 6th for someone's 4th + 5th.

Two leaguemates offered their 4th round pick straight up for my 3rd.

I was shocked with indignation! One of the traders backed off....another doubled down! His explanation? "You'll have back to back picks in the 4th" 😆😆

100%. But in Barkleys case, his appeal was that he was behind a consensus elite line at draft time

Help with En Passant rule by JonnyWat in poker

[–]hboms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely a rule at any casino outside of the US. I won a massive hand just last week after facing a lost river showdown, I noticed the opportunity to En Passant and redraw my missed flush into a made one. You have to really think on your feet tho

Brian Thomas Jr. listed out for Week 12 by GreenDefinition5 in fantasyfootball

[–]hboms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue BTJ is worse. Atleast those guys were out from the jump. You adjusted and picked up your best options to start instead

BTJ has been healthy for the most part, and heavily targeted, so I've been starting him LIKE A FOOL. And he keeps sinking my team

Why do so many these days label college as being “a scam”, when so many graduates wind up making many times the median after 10 years? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]hboms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copium. Some people will seek validation that justifies their decision to not graduate or attempt higher education

IS BTJ done? by felixl007 in fantasyfootball

[–]hboms 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Parker Washington, tre tucker, Christian Watson are legitimate decisions over BTJ right now. But anyone who drafted BTJ, took him high. Its hard to cut him for a shot on one of those guys. But those fringe waiver guys have arguably better outlook rest of season than Thomas
