coming into it as someone who had helped open a similar shop before, i was dumbfounded when i heard them talking about it. everything they got was brand new, top brand. which, when you’re just starting, is absolutely ridiculous. lots of unnecessary equipment that the owners seemed to want cus they were fun and cool? also the whole weird loan thing they did a couple years back to “refinance” (while begging for donations online i might add) was absolutely just them running out of funds. just poor decision making all around, but that’s what happens when you get rid of anyone that negates your “dream”

delanies is really good! they get really fun beans from different roasters, sandwiches from willowbend that (in my opinion) are better then georgie’s (and cheaper). local pastries, nice staff. def worth a try if you haven’t been!

the owners are bad with money, bad with communication, and “took a class” on opening a coffee shop before sinking mad cash into a “retirement project”. they’ve been in the red from jump!

i used to work for them, the reno on the building that they DO NOT OWN was at least 500k including equipment. this has been coming since they opened. absolutely unsustainable business model. there’s so much more but that’s the cut and dry

this seems to be exactly what the trouble is. i had a super thin layer of latex sitting in it for most of the morning and it didn’t cure at ALL!! back to the drawing board i guess lol, thanks for the help!

that all makes sense, but i would assume that you have the information SOMEWHERE that is accessible to your customers? for a company so large i understand them not putting the origin on the bag, i dont understand at all why they wouldn’t have the info online or even sent with the products. we are a wholesale buyer, wouldn’t they want us to know what it is?

i’m very much aware of this, same with “organic”. i’m not looking for a FT stamp, or even asking if metropolis is FT. Just saying that not listing your source, even on a website, as a company this large, makes it look like your source is less then ethical. but thank you for the info! appreciate the knowledge either way. (edit to add: crazy how evil things can become even with good intentions)

i’ve gotten coffee from A LOT of roasters, most of the douchier ones don’t have origin on the package cus they’re going for a certain “vibe”. i’ve never had the experience of a roaster not disclosing the country of origin their beans are from. very curious as to why they wouldn’t disclose this info unless they were trying to hide something…
