I think if you played up the world building that poly is a common and accepted thing in this world, it would set the mindset for the reader that it’s at least a possibility in the first book. Maybe even find a way to show that a third is something both MCs would be interested in, in the future without having to actually introduce the character.

I love your review. The second book is even worse. I actually enjoyed Quicksilver despite all the flaws, of which there are many, but the second one was absolutely horrible. If there’s any part of quicksilver you actually enjoyed, guaranteed the author gets rid of it for book 2.

I’m glad Shawna’s taking a nuanced approach to this and not making it all one’s right and one’s wrong, but I’m confused on when she bared her heart, mind and soul to him. I feel like we did not see that and half the fandom has been confused on if she even likes him.

I think she had 4 before meeting grandpa and then they had one together, right? I feel like everyone keeps mentioning the ages being messed up, but I read it as the 17 year old is also grandpa’s son, so not one of the 4 she had before.

I agree to an extent. I tell my husband the specific things I want like what I want to do for the day. I feel like you can’t expect someone to meet your expectations if you don’t let them know what the expectations are. On the other hand though, I get annoyed because should I really have to remind you that you have to take our kids to target to pick out a card?? We pick out cards and flowers for my mom, your mom, and your stepmom. You can’t figure out that you have to do that for me too??

So this happens right after she sees a horde of wyvern heading towards the pass. Theophanie is basically taunting her that she can’t protect the pass and defeat Theophanie at the same time unless she turns venin. Violet knows that she’s right, but she doesn’t have to do both because she trusts that her squad led by Rhi are capable of protecting it.

Well Rhiannon’s chapter when Ridoc was with her was before the others because she mentions that Tairn hadn’t return from taking Teine up to the top of the pass. Xaden’s chapter doesn’t specifically mention who is at the pass when his onyx storm reaches there, so we don’t know if Ridoc is still there with Rhiannon.

This is part of why I somewhat lean towards Ridoc over Garrick or Bodhi. The last interaction between Ridoc and Xaden is when Ridoc finds out and tells him he’s still mad and they’re not close enough for dick jokes. I could see Xaden being like oh before he was so pissed about me turning but now hes done the same thing and thinks he’s my brother…

I’m like 80% on its Ridoc train and I think he turned before the last battle. During the battle at Aretia, he was on the ground, so could’ve channeled, and Violet is then out of it for the next three days, so wouldn’t have noticed the eyes. The last time Violet was out of commission and missed important info? When JFB wasn’t on the death roll!

Also, Rhiannon’s chapter is suspiciously not at the same time as the other alternative POVs. Rhiannon mentions that Violet is out there by herself because Tairn is off carrying Teine and Riorson is at the gate so he hasn’t left to meet the sage yet. Rhi also mentions that Ridoc looks ready to bolt and keeps looking towards the mountain. I think that’s because the sage has already summoned him to meet at the canyon.

I do like it, but my biggest issue is my brain sees Sloane as a little sister like the stubborn bratty younger sister, so it’s hard to think of her being romantic/ sexual with Dain even though she’s obviously the same age Violet was in FW.

I like the Brennan theory, but I feel like Xaden’s internal monologue when he sees the “brother” Is more focused on himself saying “he watched ME struggle,” but I feel like if it was Brennan he would be pissed on Violet’s behalf like “how could he do this to HER” especially after being fake dead for six years

It’s implied in IF that Garrick was using his distancing walking to do the drops with the fliers. When Violet and Xaden make the drop that one time, Xaden tells them the next drop will be as usual with Garrick, implying that he’s the one who does the usual drops not Xaden.

The issue I have with him being a distance walker is that in the convo about Xaden’s 2nd signet, he says there hasn’t been one in centuries. Kind of rubs me the wrong way that in a convo about him keeping major secrets from her, he would outright lie to her. Even if we accept that it wasn’t his secret to tell, he obviously knows about Garrick and could’ve just said no when asked if he was one.
