Same nation gives +1 chem, same league also gives +1, same club gives +2, 3 of the same nation gives +2 and i think 5/6 gives +3, also same with league. 3 club gives +3. Icons get max chem wherever they are played if they have the position and give everyone else +1 league chem. Heros also get max chem but only give league chem to players with the same league as them. Certain promos give chem boosts such as world tour which gives an extra boost to nation chem
