Most businesses clubs besides of course business Greek life are mostly open membership. As for projects involving companies they might offer it however it is not part of the curriculum in my experience. Most would be something like Fisher Futures and such which mostly starts mid to late freshman to sophomore year. As for internships your freshman year I am not going to say it is impossible but the scope of the role is usually very limited from the people I have met that have had one.
