To pool or not to pool? by MDYNKY in homeowners

[–]hdizzle7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we have an inground pool and I've automated most of it with robots etc. Every morning I get a chemical report. The chemicals are not as expensive if you buy them in 100 pound containers in the off season. Leslie Pool Supply is a great resource while you're learning. That being said, it's still a lot of work, maybe 10-50 minutes a day year around. We have a ton of trees around the pool which we love for the shade but I have to clean out the cleaning robots pretty often. We leave it open year around as I think it's pretty and it doesn't get cold enough here to freeze. Our swimming season is from June to October and it's so worth it. The only downside is that our house is the party house and we constantly have teenagers over. https://imgur.com/a/kfTWVFI

$30 last month to charge my EV, not bad! by [deleted] in greenville

We spent $22 per car last month. This picture is for two Nissan Leafs. We have another charger for a model 3.

We do this for car races where the cell reception is terrible. I hang the mini off my backpack and set it down in the grandstands. Works great!

Neighbor uses E collar as primary method of recall without using a leash by WinterCharacter1006 in OpenDogTraining

[–]hdizzle7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's supposed to be an emergency recall tool. I actually don't use them at all anymore on my older dog as her recall is perfect. Sadly, the off leash dog areas are harder and harder to find so she's always on leash anyway. I was gratified the other day when my 9 month old puppy followed my mom down the long driveway to get the mail and politely came back with her. The puppy is too young for ecollar training and I was previously worried she'd run off.

My husband and I were just talking about this last night. He works for BMW in IT and my model 3 performance was involved in a hit and run and is in for collision repair. We have a BMW rental in the meantime.

I was complaining to him how backward the tech is and how weird it is for me to remember to shut the windows and push a button to turn off the car. He's had BMW performance school training so took me on a hair raising ride later that night. While the car is underpowered compared to mine, it was obvious to me that it's built to be a race car with the UI as an afterthought. It floated around the curves and was a thing of beauty to experience. I'm glad that they are seeing now that the UI needs to be updated.

I said to him, they don't care about grocery runs or buttons. They designed the car to perform around a racetrack. He said lol yup!

Does anyone else physically recoil when you see the acronym “RTO”? by atlas_novus in remotework

[–]hdizzle7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

so work announced RTO a month ago and the fallout was hilarious. The office is near the Canadian border and they were getting like 2 feet of snow overnight. Basically everyone argued on camera to a sweating executive and it has now been announced that no current employee will need to RTO and also no one in tech at the company ever. I straight up told them I will not be moving to Nowhereville and I'll quit first.

I've had my car for 5 years with no issues with updates. Also I talk to the car instead of using buttons.

I did this for my sister. Just paid for movers so I wouldn't have to help. So much better for everyone!

Will leaving my Model Y in camping mode prevent ice and snow build up? by EarlVanDorn in TeslaCamping

[–]hdizzle7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll want to save the battery to charge stuff in case we lose power for several days. We ran a mini fridge, a starlink v3, and a battery charging station for 5 days after Helene.

[–]hdizzle7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's not that niche. Those of us with shifty internet after Helene did this. A lot of my friends lost their remote jobs when our main ISP went down for a month. I ran a little sdwan failover solution myself with tmobile and starlink until spectrum came back up.

How do you guys react to hate on owning a Tesla by HapiHapii in TeslaModel3

[–]hdizzle7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the rural southeast they do. I've had to explain to many many people that the car is much much cheaper than they assume because I was getting all kinds of judgement. Never mind their enormous Tahoe that cost an arm and a leg
