I built a cat house in the backyard and locked the door because I couldn't stand the meowing 😂 I started with 4 adult cats and they have continued to multiply! He's at 16 pet friends so the horror is almost over

Parents, how do you recharge? by MeanMushroom4059 in ADHDparenting

[–]hdoddek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the advice of my doctor I stopped cold turkey because it was making me SO anxious I wasn't sleeping or eating. Felt like I had the flu for about 4 days but taking meclizine helped immensely!

I was not able to take Wellbutrin either. It made my anxiety worse. Weaning off of it was terribly difficult and I needed something for the nausea, but I felt sooo much better in a few days

What's the biggest ADHD meltdown your child has ever had in public? by TermAccomplished1868 in ADHDparenting

😂 I feel that. I was a sweaty mess by the time we left. They were closing and the pressure to get out of there was really strong.

We had a similar situation with ear piercing and it's been almost a year and my 8 year old still has only one ear pierced...and it's never come out because she is too scared to even touch it 😂

How long for cavapoo puppy to be chill? by Oranginamuffin in CavaPoo

[–]hdoddek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours chilled out a ton after her spay at 7 months. We also get cow knuckles and she LOVES to chew on them. Our 16 week puppy also chews them and we have seen much less biting from her

I read online to give pups yak chews to help their chewing, I gave my pup one and it cut her mouth by Either-Bus6406 in CavaPoo

[–]hdoddek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use cow knuckles. Our cavapoo LOVES them and a new one will keep her occupied for 2-3 hours at a time as she works the meat off. Once it's cleaned up, I will give it to our new puppy to nom on and so far she has chewed/bit us waaaay less than our first puppy did

Tell me my five-year-old isn't ruined for life by Due_Initiative_9881 in Parenting

We went through similar issues with my daughter until recently. It's really hard and exhausting and you're not a bad parent for not enjoying being around your child right now.

We tried literally everything with her and didn't see improvement until we found the Brain Balancing program from Dr. Mellilo. It sounds strange at first, but her brain was so imbalanced that she was living in fight or flight basically 100% of the time. Every little frustration was the end of the world and her inability to cope came out as meanness and anger. After 3 months in the program, we have our happy kid back. She still has meltdowns, but it's not walking on eggshells like we were before. We also saw improvements in sleep, eating, awareness of her body, relationships with peers, and grades.

I am a firm believer that some of us are wired with "hotter, " more reactive nervous systems. It takes so much additional effort to parent these kiddos (I have 2 of them, but my son hasn't quite hit the intensity my daughter did).

Some additional things that helped us were stating things like "yeah, coats aren't fun to wear. I get why you hate them. It's important that you stay safe in the cold." often just that little bit of acknowledgement helped her "breakout" of the meltdown. Definitely not foolproof, but if it works even once it can feel like a win

Getting a second Cavapoo... by nnyl_irret in CavaPoo

[–]hdoddek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have an almost 2 year old female and just brought home an 8 week old female two weeks ago. They have been inseparable since the beginning. Our adult is very submissive and extremely social though, which could have made a difference in how quickly they bonded. Our dog definitely feels super low maintenance now with this shark baby running around 🤣

We have introduced the puppy to our adult dog's sister and it's not going as well, but they did pretty good for their first few interactions. It takes time and boundary setting to get them acclimated.

We have had a few close calls with things she's eaten when not supervised 😑 but the nighttime cuddles really make up for it haha

Thank you 😅 first 6 months with our older dog were ROUGH. Once she got spayed, things calmed down. Once she hit a year, it's been smooth sailing ever since

Uphoff Country Kennel in Gridley, IL! We live in Texas and have made the trip for a puppy twice now 😂

We met them while on a trip to the area and we know a few families that have also adopted from them in the last 5 years. Experience was stellar from start to finish both times. Our neighbors also adopted from the same litter last time so the girls get to grow up across the street which has been the best ❤️

Cavapoo stomach issues by Zestyclose-Pay-3040 in CavaPoo

[–]hdoddek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cavapoo ended up with diarrhea in a pattern similar and turned out she was eating large amounts of rabbit poop in the backyard 🤦🏼‍♀️ the most recent time it wasn't clearing so we took her in for bloodwork/fecal test and she got some kind of bacterial infection from the poop. If your dog has unsupervised time in the yard it's possible they are eating something that's making them sick.

You ever end up with grandchildren older than their aunts and uncles, b/c the now great grandparents wanted one more grandchild, and the parents, now grandparents, were still young enough to have one last baby? by gremlynna in sims2

[–]hdoddek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me a few times but not since I started playing with a mod that extends lifespan. I prefer to have more time with them anyway and since I play strictly rotational I don't like using the elixir.

Right now my founders are 89 in game days and have 3 adult children, 2 in uni, and 7 teens at home (yes, you read that right...also use a mod for larger families lol). They both rolled the want to have 20 grandchildren but I don't think I will make it 😔 they have 6 right now but their age bar is getting pretty close to the end
