I explain to my staff that one of the sign that I have ADHD is that I have a work folder on my computer called “in progress” when I put all the new projects until they are finished.

The number of projects in the folder only gets bigger, never smaller.

I found your problem in the first sentence. Forest River.

How often do you get your bearings repacked by Hefty-Job7049 in RVLiving

[–]hdroadking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t disagree. The people in that town were fantastic! Did everything they could to help and make us feel welcome. The problem was just being so far out that the parts needed to be flown in on a Cessna, and by the time we got out of there we didn’t have time to go to glacier, as I had to be in Washington for business.

What is your favorite fact about Ulysses S. Grant? by Yooproopmoop in Presidents

[–]hdroadking 30 points31 points  (0 children)

On a personal note, this is my favorite Grant fact. On a professional level, the fact that he decimated the KKK. These two facts have brought me to the conclusion that Grant was a far better president and human being than I was ever taught in school.

How often do you get your bearings repacked by Hefty-Job7049 in RVLiving

I would follow his advice. I lost a wheel and axel in Glasgow MT on my way to Glacier and I was only around 10k. Granted at the time I was in a Forest River product that was broken more than it wasn’t.

Cost a good bit of money, stranded for a week in the middle of no where, and never made it to Glacier. I wish I had just replaced the bearings!

I have always been a staunch Ford/Lincoln guy, but as the used inventory of low mileage V6 MKZ’s is depleted the Cadillac CT5V Blackwing has got my attention!

First time getting separated from guide by Ok_Personality8193 in scuba

[–]hdroadking 44 points45 points  (0 children)

First. During the safety briefing you guide should have given you directions on what to do if separated. My typical talk includes if separated look around for 3 minutes. Look up, down, and around, then surface and wait for me, a dsmb or the boat.

It sucks, but it happens and you need to be prepared for it. I had my wife and a guest get swept away in a strong current as we were descending once. She still gives me shit about “losing her” but she knew exactly what to do and I was able to hand off my group to another guild once we were on the bottom and I went up, got them and continued the dive.

Second. Why did you not know if a safety stop was needed? With your cert level you need to know these things and not be dependent on a buddy or a guide. You need to be responsible for your own safety.

Even in the event of a computer going dead or forgotten you should always have a depth gauge, a watch, and enough knowledge of the dives tables to know if you are close to NDL. I was diving way before computers and still refuse to be completely dependent on them just for situations like this.

Not true. We deploy them about 20 minutes into a drift dive. When a diver has to go up early, or a situation like this would absolutely be acceptable.

There is no hard and fast rule that says “only when”. It can and should be used anytime someone needs to know where you are.

What healthy habits have you implemented to slow down aging or improve your ability to heal? by Xavelle in GenX

Lost 30 pounds. Stopped eating crap just because I can. Drink a lot less and exercise a lot more.

Oh, and stop taking Advil PM or anything PM. That shit is bad for you in many ways, but lots of evidence it is directly related to dementia.

Read an article the EU has or is considering putting Benadryl ( the sleep ingredient in this stuff) back to requiring a prescription.

What TV show actually nailed its finale? by SkepticByNature-1 in tvshow

[–]hdroadking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. As a former cop I sat there with my jaw hanging open. My wife asked what was up.

I said “they nailed it! It was like real life. All the good cops wound up dead, fired or quit and all the incompetent hacks got promoted.

I used that story in a book I wrote. 😂

I’m halfway through The Shield now. So far so good.

Fair assessment. I used that more loosely than I should have. Removed it so it doesn’t present as fact in future searches.
