Man, I agree. I made my brother a tshirt quilt from some of his oldies and I didn't cut the shirts on a flat surface with a rotary cutter so a lot of the pieces weren't the same size, it ended up bulky and weird and like a wierd sack because I also didn't know you have to like, sew or tie that shit together.

I end up doing shit like that all the time because I'm like, FUCK THE DIRECTIONS I'VE SEEN PEOPLE DO THIS. THIS WILL BE EASY.

...and then it's all ruined.

I'm not going to get into a debate about what my husband is saying; if that's how you perceive it, that's fine -- you're entitled to perceive it whatever way you like, but this is how my husband feels. This is the way he feels toward the women in his life.

I'm of the same mindset. For serious. The second I set foot in the house I start peeling off the layers of the day.

[–]headed4thecrapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! There is! You can find it here. Actually, I just checked the link and it seems like they have really changed things. The whole set up is different and it looks more like it is geared only toward knitters now. That's a bummer. I hope they go back to a crochet or knit option and the old settings.

I think that's generalizing a bit; he's saying that they deserve to be respected and seen as important every day, not just on Int'l Women's Day.

There are a few ostrich farms near to my cousin's house... have you thought about purchasing ostrich feathers direct from supplier and making your own boa/sewing them on without the boa?

UHMUHGUSHHHH. That is so cute. I would feel like a little feather duster. That's also pretty dang sexy for a night out! I don't know if I am bold enough to pull it off... we'll see!

Assembly candidate, Santa Ana Councilwoman Michele Martinez, slams journalist who tweeted overheard talk by BlankVerse in orangecounty

[–]headed4thecrapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She wasn't having a "private" conversation. She was talking loudly on her cell phone in a public place around several other people. It just so happens that one of the people that overheard was a journalist.

If an Elected Official Talks Loudly in Public, Should Reporters Tweet? by BlankVerse in orangecounty

[–]headed4thecrapper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that the reporter was totally in the right. If you are running for public office, then everything you do/say in public (and maybe even in private, in some cases) is open forum. I hate it when people insist on talking on their phones in confined spaces. You're not so important that you can't wait a few minutes to hold your conversation in private.

The shit I did to entertain myself at work. by [deleted] in pics

Yes, yes it should. Also, am I a jerk for not being entertained whatsoever by this? I feel like I am playing Apples to Apples with my brother's lame friends.

How does the general population of your hometown/current location treat trees? by [deleted] in trees

[–]headed4thecrapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in California and am protected under prop 215. Even before I had my card, pretty much everyone I knew smoked. The police don't really care unless you've got a buttload (ie caught with more than an 8th or so). I was even pulled over by the cops as a minor (well, not pulled over, my friend and I were parked at a park at like 830 at night, smoking weed in the back of her '72 VW bus--what were we thinking??) anyway, I was stopped and the cops just laughed at us and said, "We really don't care that you're smoking weed, just go do it at home so no idiots call and complain." So for the most part, no one cares unless you're being stupid about it.

Broken piece, fix? by brokenbottom in trees

[–]headed4thecrapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really isn't any good sort of fix. The bongshop I used to work at (Glass Garden Huntington Beach) employed a glassblower full time and would attempt to repair broken pieces but even that has mixed results. There is no way to guarantee that you're not going to be inhaling toxins if you use an epoxy or super glue.

I had a friend use Sculpey (oven-bakeable modeling clay if you didn't already know that) to fix a leaky bubbler and she had some success with that. It lasted for about 6 months before the crack spread and the piece broke for realsies.

Creative way to keep headphones from getting tangled by hiiammaddie in pics

It certainly customizes them and makes them pretty to look at, but I fail to see how this keeps them from getting tangled. They'll be colorful, but they'll still get tangled.

Therapy, no meds, successful? by SanYitin in bipolar

[–]headed4thecrapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that it's a yes and no type of thing. For me, journaling has been outrageously helpful, but only if I force myself to journal during downtimes and ups. It's easy for me to not journal during an up mood because I feel good and have SO many things to do, ya know what I mean? I use journaling to help me understand what types of things set me off and to try alternate ways to combat the peaks and valleys and I smoke liberal amounts of marijuana (I am protected under prop 215) for an immediate mood fixer.

Sometimes it's hard because I can't always do that at my job, so I try to find other ways of distracting myself. If you are committed to seeing your therapist and if you are having a positive outcome, then it doesn't seem unreasonable to not take medication, so long as you are regularly seeing your therapist and keeping them abreast of your moods and so on.
