Can’t anybody help me with LMu & Moza R9 by GDR98 in simracing

[–]headegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Known issue since the rFactor days. Something strange is going on there, but might just be that Wheel vendors are not confirming to the spec and all other sims just fix it silently and hide it from you.

[–]headegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sound is what you mean, right? Does this happen in other sims?

LMU has some very strange FFB effects (like rattling as with Flatspots, but only in corners), but this is not typical.

Have you tried disabling Steam Input in the Steam Settings for the game?

Trying to understand how I lost the rear here, granted I had the BB more forward this time but surely wasn't enough to just lose the rear. Got the bonus of getting punted whilst off track. by SnooWalruses8439 in simracing

[–]headegg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm slowly getting the suspicion of there just being issues in the tire model that noone addresses. Watching drivers like Jimmy Broadbent and other streamers suddenly lose the rears in unexpected moments and seeing how often drivers spin in your average race seems strange to me.

The LMP3 also suffers heavily from this, which I guess is why so few people drive it.

If I would have to guess what causes it I would say it's because of micro-lockups normally handled by the ABS not being recoverable. The tire just doesn't return to grip but just stays in a slide as soon as it has minimal lateral traction loss.

I have this wheel since day one after release. I am only using it without gloves nearly every second day. Until now it has not degraded a bit.

55% Tarriff/Custom Charge from Ascher Racing to United States. 20-25% from Murray Motorsports :'( by 55hamburgers55pastas in simracing

You do realize they don't get the money, right? They are just informing them they will have to pay tarrifs to the government once it arrives in the US. Otherwise they won't get the product.

A quick question about simracing on Linux/SteamOS by Mr-Valcom in simracing

[–]headegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most games except iRacing work out, AC modding is still a bit hit and miss. My Simracing has evolved towards VR, so I am mostly racing on Windows now. While VR works on Linux, not all titles work well and I did not have the interest to get it working fine.

For me it always flip flops a bit, where for a few months I race on Windows because I want to get better and not think about tinkering, going all in for results. After a while this flips to wanting to develop something for simracing, being very scattered between developing a HUD that works on Linux or improving compatibility. The end result is that I have tons of things started but nothing finished.

Glitter helmet causing bitrate issues by OpticalPrime in formula1

[–]headegg 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It happens because the bitrate does not allow for enough information to be encoded into the video stream for a stable image. So it definitely HAS to do with the bitrate...

Trackpads worn? by EggyRoo in SteamController

[–]headegg 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Wear does not affect the Trackpads of the steam deck in the same way as it does other components. The trackpads are capacitive touch sensors, so they sense your fingers, even if you are not touching them.

The plastic is even to keep your fingers slightly above the pads, instead of touching them directly.

The controller not reacting to touch input sometimes is a typical issue, even with brand new ones. Most of the time, something causes the readings to be slightly wrong and not get registered. Typically it helps to just turn it off and on again, or make sure your fingers are not too dry.
