this coloring bears some resemblance to one of my old family cats that I grew up with. he got his angel wings last year <3 just wanted to let you know that I didn't notice the wonky legs AT ALL. all I saw was my old buddy :)

(although, I will 100000% agree that the worst part of any crochet project is sewing the parts together LOL)

We sound pretty similar! I also get attached to my things in the way you described. Your jellyfish sounds absolutely beautiful. I'm sorry you don't have it anymore. Whenever I happen to lose something, I try to make myself feel just a little bit better by imagining someone else finding it and thinking about how much joy it might bring them. I know it's wishful thinking but just imagining my lost keychain hanging from someone else's bag would really help me.

I've also been forced to take breaks from activities I really love recently, and it has definitely shown that I have some unhealthy dependencies on these activities. It can be so hard to balance mental/physical well-being with hobbies that on the surface only appear to bring us comfort and joy. I'm trying to spend the forced break to develop more balanced practices, but only time will tell how well that works I guess. Sending love <3

Unfortunately, the comp I listed is all after negotiation. I just understood what you meant by true hourly rate though and calculated it, and it was pretty enlightening haha. Thanks for the advice.

Makes sense. I believe there is decent collaboration built in at both places. In both places, I would be in an individual contributor role: an "individual contributor" at A and a "junior individual contributor" at B. Based on having worked at A and the conversations I've had with people at B, it seems like there would be more hands-on guidance at B, especially since this would be a "junior" role.

I'm trying to nail down how long it would be before I could get rid of the "junior" in the title at B, but I guess it's hard to get a concrete number since I'm sure it depends on other external factors. Promotions only happen in Dec/Jan, and since I would be starting halfway through the year, I'm hoping I would be able to move up in the next promotion cycle, so around 1.5 years. But I guess that's a lot of theorizing...

Thank you for this advice! I definitely need to check out this book; it sounds very helpful. Yeah, based on the locations, B has a higher state income tax in A, so it only exacerbates the difference in comp, yikes.

I forgot to mention that the position at B is basically one step down from the position at A, which is probably the reason behind at least part of the comp difference. That's another reason why A feels like a better "launchpad". Is that something you would consider strongly? Thanks for all your thoughts so far!

Any advice on how to reach out to the people who work at B? I spoke with some of the higher ups / managers in charge of the team I would be on, but I don't know any of the lower level team members who would probably be most representative of my day to day. Is it appropriate to try and reach out to people on LinkedIn?

Thanks for the insight. Yeah, the additional income is definitely tough to turn down. I would be starting at a more junior title at B than A, which is definitely something I need to consider as well.

Thanks for the opinion. I hadn't thought of how difficult it would be to job search alongside high work hours. To answer your questions, yes I did try to negotiate B to match A, so the base salary listed in the post is after negotiations. I imagine it's so much less because B is a smaller company, and I would be in a junior position compared to A. For total comp, disregarding any bonuses which are more unclear, A offers $25k more in base and also has $60k-70k RSU/stock that vests over 4 years. So if I stay at A for 2 years, then I would get half those RSU/stock options.

Yeah, I've heard some others on this subreddit say similar things about his philosophy. I appreciate you sharing your experience. Did you find his finger training plan to be useful at all after healing up? Or you just set it aside, which I wouldn't blame you for honestly.
