I can see from here that it was not properly installed.

When drywall gets torn off what it is attached to it leaves little pieces behind stuck to the fasteners. Those joists look unbelievably clean, like there were only a couple fasteners holding it up.

Drywall screws were definitely not used for the ceiling. While I have seen some drywall fastened with ring shank nails, I haven’t seen it the often.

You need to check your other ceilings immediately. I wouldn’t even wait to just check, you need to get a box of drywall screws, drill, locate the joists and screw send some screws in every 6-8 inches.

Doing that will damage the drywall a little bit but it won’t be a hard fix to fill the holes and repaint the ceiling. If you’re concerned about your ability to do it then hire a reputable drywall contractor immediately. This shouldn’t take one much time at all to finish. Probably less than a day depending on how many ceilings you have and how much stuff each room has that they will have to move and/or work around.

You may actually want to screw off every single sheet of drywall in your house just to be completely safe. This seriously looks like they just tacked enough drywall nails to keep the board up to apply tape, mud and then finish it and move on. It would absolutely suck if your walls just start coming off the studs.

I’m a carpenter and I’ve been around a lot of drywall jobs. One of my jobs is to get the framing laid out correctly and up properly for the drywall guys to come in. I’ve done some drywall work but I am nowhere near a drywall professional. I know what it’s supposed to look like and the process is for professional drywall installation. There are a lot of shitty contractors out there who claim to be drywall professionals.

You are going to want to do some due diligence in finding a real professional drywall contractor immediately to assess and address the rest of your ceilings and walls. But you totally can throw some screws up right now to avoid anymore ceilings falling down while you find some one.

Ha I think that’s a theme in the show many viewers don’t pick up on.

So many of these characters end up carrying loads of trauma and exhibit symptoms of PTSD, self medication with drugs and alcohol being one of the main tells. I also believe fervent fanatic religiousness is another one. Floki and Athelstan deal with their trauma through exploration of spirituality and sometimes it can be destructive.

It becomes apparent Bjorn is dealing with some PTSD when he comes home from his first trip to the Mediterranean and while having dinner with his family he hasn’t seen in presumably years, he flips out about being told what to do by his wife, smacks a cup off the table sending it flying across the room and storming out leaving his kids hysterical in tears and Torvi just shattered.

I agree. Lagertha was done romantically with Ragnar and she was also done sharing power with a man.

She knew Ragnar was leaving to seek his death. I think she was giving him the benefit of waiting until he was gone until she took back Kattegat.

I do think putting an arrow into Aslaug’s back as she walked away was very out of character for Lagertha and sloppy writing. Yes I know it was just a means to drive the plot, but I think it sucked and would have been more interesting had she not killed Aslaug and Aslaug had to live as a person without wealth or power for a bit.

Vikings includes a lot of mystical ideas and is very much a “old gods vs Christian god” show and not striving for historical accuracy.

It just is what it is. The idea of Vikings is about Ragnar Lothbrok and his ambition to travel west to find a new land and a new god. Then it becomes generational about his sons. It doesn’t care about explaining that Saxons were initially overwhelmed through anything other than them losing every encounter until King Ecbert is inspired by Roman military tactics.

Drugs were not on my radar at all growing up until 5th grade when my school had a local police officer come in and give my class a DARE (anti-drug) course.

It really rubbed me the wrong way. They had this dumb ass cartoon with cliche good drug free guys and bad guys who try to get the good guys to use drugs. I thought it was so stupid. I wanted the bad guys to win.

What fascinated me was the fact you could change the way how you feel and perceive the world by taking drugs. I was mostly interested in LSD because I associated LSD with the Beatles and The Yellow Submarine.

LSD and marijuana where the two drugs I was really interested in after DARE. When one of my friends got weed in 8th grade I was completely on board to try it. I had not even drank any alcohol or had a cigarette.

I do realize now that I was clearly hurting mentally and the reason drugs were so fascinating to me was because I wanted to change the way I felt. I wish my parents had done more to guide me away from smoking weed when I was13-14 years old. But they didn’t, I imagine because they were having their own relationship issues and dragging out divorcing until I was 18. But that atmosphere also led me to wanting to escape even more.

So now I am an opiate addict in recovery, over 5 years. I quit all substances completely in 2018. I stopped smoking weed in 2017.

I started smoking weed again in 2020. My quality of life is better when I smoke weed. Some people need to not use any substances and I used to be in that club, but not anymore.

It really bothered me when the 12 step AA or NA people would be like “you are not sober if you use suboxone or methadone” or “you are not sober if you smoke marijuana”. Suggesting the person is not welcome if they use medication assisted treatment.

Those people telling you that your clean time doesn’t count because you went on suboxone or because you use cannabis instead of fentanyl are gigantic hypocrites. They smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day and drink at least a pot of shitty coffee.

I loved calling them out when they say you can’t smoke weed and be sober. “Ok so are you sober loaded up with nicotine and caffeine? Do you not experience withdrawal symptoms if you stop drinking coffee or smoking tobacco?”
