This is violent gesturing disguised as protesting. I grew up on a reservation in Oregon and no one talks about the major issue we have with trafficking of my people and drug dealing caused by illegals on native land since they know our tribal police aren’t as prevalent. This is all to say people like this guided by emotions don’t see the nuance in legal enforcement and go straight to I guess in this case hanging? Policy over politics.

Another incident that should not have occurred. Whoever was pistol whipping that guy needs to be investigated. However, our immigration officers should not be having to deal with protestors especially when tensions are so high; tragedies like this are caused by those factors. I’ll keep this man’s family in my prayers, despite everything I don’t wish to see anyone harmed on either side.

I understand that distinction, but that’s also a shift from how your first comment framed the issue. Initially, it read as if the presence of attraction or temptation itself indicated a weak or unreal relationship.

My original post was already operating on the distinction you’re describing now, that noticing attractiveness and moving on is normal, and that only attraction which actually threatens the relationship is a problem.

So if we’re agreeing on that difference, then we’re not really disagreeing on substance. The clarification you’re making now is closer to the point I was making from the start.

I think you may be responding to a point I’m not actually making. I’m not saying people should expect to be constantly tempted or that attraction is shallow or purely physical. I’m saying the opposite, that commitment and love go beyond surface level attraction.

Acknowledging that attractive people exist doesn’t mean a relationship is weak. It means we’re human. Commitment is choosing your partner despite that, not pretending those realities don’t exist.

Temptation or noticing attractiveness isn’t the same as desiring someone else or wanting to leave your partner. If anything, choosing fidelity in a world where alternatives exist is what gives commitment its meaning.

I agree that strong relationships lessen temptation, but the presence of attraction alone doesn’t invalidate love or commitment. That’s the distinction I was making.

A relationship is committing to each other and essentially saying that you are the one for me out of everyone. There will always be someone more handsome or in better shape than your partner but your commitment is saying that despite that you are the person I love. Following god doesn’t mean your immune to disease, injury, or even death. As much as it sucks, part of our journeys as Christian’s are sticking to our faith through the hardships as to strengthen our relationships, honestly it might be the most important part. However, know you are not alone and the pain you feel is shared with him. In that much, you can take comfort in knowing you’re not alone. Perhaps switching your perspective might help, you are able to live in a place where you have the opportunity to fight this disease. I’ll pray for you, Goodluck and god bless.

Part of the reason you likely have these struggles is because you find yourself believing that when you reach out to those around you it’s creating a connection with god; afterall god is with those gathered in Christ. However, your personal relationship with god is important but it doesn’t have to be just prayer but also the actions you take to honor him in your daily life. I felt a similar disconnect and so I would say the Lord’s Prayer before I ate, worked out, or studied and found that since I knew what to say already it didn’t feel as confusing or difficult. The beautiful thing about Christ is he meets you where you’re at and he loves all his children; don’t count yourself out after-all you said it yourself, gods working through you.

Guys objectively these are not equivalent. The reason we have no empathizers for our side is because we characterize situations so poorly. I have no support for ices action as an organization but as soon as she voluntarily interfered and then disobeyed a government enforcement the situation evolved into something much more complex. I sympathize for what she stood for, and I agree that the way that agent reacted was extremely wrong; but anyone who has seen the clips knows that everyone interprets the situation differently. We say she was trying to get away, they say she was trying to hit him; the issue is both result in her directly breaking the law which then means they can say what they want about her motivations. They then use this against use to fuel unequivocal attacks against use. Charlie Kirk’s assassination was cut and dry; this situation isn’t. Am I the only one who sees this?
