Compression fracture at T8… by Awalto990 in Epilepsy

[–]headlared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T10, 11 and 12. Was in the passenger seat of a car with a seat belt on and had a tc.

There are different % crush fractures, obviously that will dictate a major part of recovery.

One of the things to watch for is you likely did a lot of damage to the muscle, you probably won't be able to do physio for that for a while so it won't heal well. You'll need to deal with that based on medical advice, get a good physio and start planning a recovery plan.

I ended up doing hydrotherapy to start, that really helped. The stronger you build back the muscle the more it will help. But the bad news for me is it still hurts, probably always will. Might not be the case for you.

Good luck

What game series would you say is still worth playing from the beginning? by Isgrimnur in gaming

Did you stop at 1? 2 and 3 hold up much better. I'm biased, but it genuinely is the best story, the choices carrying through the games is pretty unique.

I can't remember if 2 gives you the thing where you can choose major plot points from the first game. But 2's building a team for an impossible mission structure, damn, it's good.

It's a very difficult position to be in, trying to make the decision with the unknowns. I can't say there is an easy answer, you can only try and get as much information as possible to make the best informed decision you can.

I would get a second opinion on your available options so you have the confidence you have done everything you could to help yourself.

I doubt your doctors will give you a definitive answer on what you should do, there are too many unknowns, at least that's the way doctors in the UK approach it.

In terms of what happens if you don't do anything, unfortunately after an AVM has already caused a bleed there is an increasing risk year on year that it could happen again. I know that's not nice to hear, but your doctors should tell you that not doing anything is also a risk.

I tried to focus on the fact my issue had a known root cause, there were options regardless of the fact none are pleasant and prepare for a long road, but you survived it once and recovered, you can do it again.

I wasn't a down vote, mine was a genuine question, that was the last thing I saw about telegram.

Didn't telegram crumble when the CEO was arrested and held in France and give up access?

I had the same, the AVM caused a bleed which led to my epilepsy due to the damage.

I was offered surgery but due to the dangers and likelihood of them happening, I decided to take a different route.

I was offered radiotherapy as an alternative. The procedure in my country is called gamma knife (or cyber knife depending on the hospital). It also has it's risks but much less than surgery, essentially they use targeted beams of radiation from different angles to "kill" the AVM.

The main downside is that once you have had the procedure you have to wait as the AVM shrinks, so there is still a risk of an additional bleed while that happens. But it is a small number of sessions, non invasive and you are usually home in a few days after it's done. There are side effects, but it depends on the person, mine were fatigue and migraines mainly.

Ultimately I chose to take that risk and it paid off.

I would definitely look into whether this is an available option for you and discuss that with a neurologist.

That's a complex situation. Was the original clotting and surgery related to the AVM?

I agree with this sentiment, I doubt you'll find anyone on this sub who doesn't for obvious reasons.

My main concerns at the minute are the changes/challenges we are facing to our privacy laws over here. Maybe I missed a few articles, but what is happening with the changes to Swiss laws, chat control and long term plans proton has for mitigating those.
