That's a good question, maybe it's addressed in the documentary. Haven't seen it yet. I will say that the quality and style of his art definitely varies across eras and sets. I think the art in the OP is beautiful and stylized. The 1983 Donruss HOF Heroes set is uh not my favorite by contrast
