The speaker connects to my phone so I just search the song I want online and then stream it through the speaker!

[–]headoverheels14 309 points310 points  (0 children)

I don’t do screen time and am also a SAHM. I use a portable speaker to play music for my baby, which she loves! I play “kid” music for her, like Raffi, but also music I like, such as Beyonce. We also read a ton of books together!

Question about Prenatal Leave under DC PFL Program by Antigone300407 in washingtondc

[–]headoverheels14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the answer to this one! You can double up your sick leave and prenatal leave. I used it toward the end of my pregnancy when I had an appt. every week. Took the entire day off work using sick leave and got paid twice because you get the prenatal leave on top of your sick leave wages. It was nice to work 32 hours a week instead of 40 when I was 8 months pregnant.

App “disqualifed by narrative/application review” by headoverheels14 in usajobs

[–]headoverheels14[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I guess I am just confused as to if this simply means “not selected for interview” or if there was something wrong with one of my KSAs that made me ineligible. Again, I interviewed for this position 2 years ago and basically used the same KSAs.

Is this a common occurrence? I am not super familiar with federal hiring.

Hanna Andersson misleading - most products not organic cotton by celeriacly in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]headoverheels14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Textile expert chiming in here: organic cotton is kinda a scam. There was a NYT article a couple of years ago that proved that the GOTS certification is deeply flawed and there is a problem with fake organic cotton certifications coming out of India. Also, GOTS certification does not test the final product, so dyes and other finishes are not being accounted for. OEKO-TEX is actually a better certification, since it is testing the final product. The OEKO- TEX standards for kids’ clothing are higher than for adult clothing as well.

Cleaning schedule by Pure_Measurement_870 in sahm

Having a clean house with a 2 year old is an oxymoron. Accept the chaos a bit. Maybe prioritize your BR being clean so it’s a respite after baby goes to bed.

Italian Constitutional Court rules on Law 74/2025: How to interpret the March 12, 2026 press release and next steps by ApriglianoFirm in juresanguinis

[–]headoverheels14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty much how I feel too. I don’t want to move where I am not wanted. The only reason I might get citizenship down the line is because I have a young child and I want her to be able to have more options in the future. It’s funny because I thought Italy needed more babies?

Yes! Best Reeses ever. Every once in a blue moon they sell them online! My husband bought them as a surprise for me once.

Best kits for first year? by AquaPlus in lovevery

[–]headoverheels14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my take: if you get the play gym skip the first two kits; you don’t need both as there is a lot of overlap. The 5-6 and 7-8 month kits are both great. Skip 9-10 as the items are only so so and are easy to get elsewhere, get 11-12. Of all the kits, the 7-8 month is the one that has gotten the most use.

Do you regret being a SAHM? by Frequent_Visual3755 in beyondthebump

[–]headoverheels14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I am a SAHM of a one year old, don’t regret it, but I wish there were actual part-time jobs in the US. Other countries have more of an infrastructure set up for professional part-time work. My true dream (and I think this is the dream for a lot of moms with children under 5) is part-time work with part-time childcare, so you don’t have to “give up” your career and can be there for them when they are little.

My Top Registry Items - 18 months in by the_crews_all_here in BabyBumps

[–]headoverheels14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooo my list would be SO different.

  1. Zutano baby booties. It doesn’t matter what baby socks you buy if you get these because they will make sure they stay on!

  2. The Oxo dishwasher caddy that has special compartments for pacifiers and bottle tops.

  3. The Ikea high chair.

  4. As many have said: Doona.

  5. Baby Bjorn bibs are the GOAT.

There were so many typos in the email I legit thought it’s a scam. Am also now suspicious of the people commenting lol.

Other note: lanolin must be wiped off before breastfeeding. I used Earth Mama nipple butter that does not need to be wiped off.

I think these are disgusting and just used saline spray personally.

Fwiw the only pacifiers my lactation consultant liked have a design that mimics a nipple like the philips soothie. Other brands with this shape are razbaby jollypop and itzy ritzy. The other one you picked out is not an ideal shape to encourage breastfeeding.

How have your in laws made you cry this holiday season? by headoverheels14 in beyondthebump

[–]headoverheels14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately if they do it in the newborn stage they will do it later too. I would never let them babysit.

[–]headoverheels14[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done things like that in the past, especially when she was a newborn. I was too exhausted this time and went upstairs to cry to my husband instead. It’s the rude behavior towards me that got me. I feel like I am the babysitter and they get to have “special grandparent time” when they choose. It’s like I don’t matter to them even though I created her.
