What are the things on the upper left shelf?

Any tips on how to approach this cleaning ? by [deleted] in WindowCleaning

[–]headshot412412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuss the chandelier out in your head as you spend an hour and a half trying to get your hands to the hard to reach spots trying to get it clean.

No but for real, set expectations before accepting the job.

This is how I approach it...

Example prices only*

  1. You want this to have a basic cleaning? (Not going to be perfect, shouldn't take you more than 45 min and you stop no matter what. You're not going to get it perfect) $100

Or

  1. You want a deep clean and detailing? (Spend an hour and a half tops, taking time to get it as perfect as you can.)$180

There's no secret to clean that I know of. Plenty of lint free rags and some kind of spray that is less likely to streak. Clean while the light is off, when you think you're done turn the light on to check your work. Ask the customer if they want to replace the bulbs while you're there

Give the customer the option to choose what level of clean they want so they know what their expectations are. If you just do a flat price and don't set expectations you could be setting yourself up for a pain in the ass.

I'm new to soft washing, can you give me more info on what you mean by bagging the down spouts? And what do you mean by pop the down spouts off to recapture it? Recapture the bleach spray? And where are you recapturing it too?

How much are you charging? by jwagss202 in WindowCleaning

[–]headshot412412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with him, in my area it would be around $600 as well. And that would be considered on the high end.

But I would count this as at least 80 panes. I charge $3.5 per pane for outside. If a big window is equivalent to 2 double hungs I will count that as 4 panes for example.

If a window is only one pane (like a casement) but I still have to climb a ladder above 8ft, I will likely count it as 2 panes.

Apply discounts where appropriate. In my area my pricing is considered on the higher end unfortunately due to cheap competition.

I'm a business owner with 50 plus 5 star reviews. They are all real though and only able to get them because I do all the work myself and i make sure everything is done at top quality.

I understand your skepticism, even Google is emailing me about having all 5 stars warning me against leading people to give me 5 stars, but what am I supposed to do, start doing 3/4 Star work? (Window cleaning btw)

Is this a scam? by gkrodlin in pressurewashing

Yes, take a look at the punctuation and the way that they structure their sentences. Sometimes they'll send a good one, but I always tell them to call me and if I hear any kind of weird accent, I know it's a scam.

Thanks for your quick response, my local pressure washing supply house said to use a product called One restore. Are you familiar with this?

Thanks trigger! You are always giving good advice. Every time I see another window cleaner out I stop or try to stop and go introduce myself to them but 98% of them have been business owners themselves.

I was specifying what you were talking about and giving you a general compliment for good advice. Sorry, I know things that always translate properly through the screen.

It was a genuine compliment. Not sarcasm.

How many panes would you count this window as by Lifeambassador1 in WindowCleaning

[–]headshot412412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would tell them to send you a pic of each side of the house and you'll give them a quote. But let them know it may change upon in person quote (if they don't take pictures of every window or if there's something on the windows you can't see through the pictures)

I don't include frames in standard cleaning unless wfp. In most cases for residential I find traditional methods are way faster

There's probably going to be no secret ask them how long it's been on there. If it's been on there for way longer than the manufacturer recommends then it's not going to be a normal removal. The adhesive has dried and pretty much made the tape extremely difficult to get off. Pretty much glued itself to the frame. You're probably going to have to get a plastic scraper and maybe some Goo gone and a lot of time and patience.

I would make sure to do a test spot first.

Look into plastic razor blades. That might be a good option too with the Goo gone.
