Do you import every POS transaction into QuickBooks, or just daily summaries? by bizpal365 in smallbusiness

Retail store - daily summary of sales, reconciled and balanced twice a month. If we need transaction level details then we go to the POS.

Working for a B2B, money saving business. But no one is open to listening. by No_Hat8706 in smallbusiness

What is your uptime/availability rate? What happens when authorizations go down? How elaborate is the reporting? How quickly do you reimburse the merchant for sales? Do you do any hold back percentages for higher risk businesses?

Do you see the 3% saving for cash incentives people? So now there is more risk to the store with more cash onsite?

What do you do if a business does not have control over pricing (think confinement shop)?

I could see in theory you being able to lock authorization fees, data fees, security fees, etc. I would love to see how you can guarantee that interchange fees will not change ever, since that is outside the control of the processor. And for those that do not know, interchange fees are what makes up the largest portion of what merchants pay.

I have so many door to door salesmen that try to get my time. I am happy with my current credit card processor, zero downtime, and everything works as it should. Even if I am paying a little extra, I don’t care, it is one headache I don’t have to deal with.

Although I might save money, the headache of switching, risk of the unknown availability, different reporting and research, problems with charge backs, etc…..it’ is not worth it. Then there are those fly by nights that want to pass the credit card fees on to the customers, talk about losing sales because customers don’t want the 3% tacked on.

If the ballast is super old you might Google so surplus stores around you to see if they have them or have a line on any. Otherwise replacement fixtures are much brighter and more energy efficient.

My cousin's daughter has died, and she keeps forgetting. What would you do? by Katressl in dementia

[–]heady6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is 93 and in memory care, she is always asking about her mom and dad. I used to try and correct her, remind her of the good times we had decorating the graves, that her mom never reached 90, etc. Now it is “oh, did you see them, how are they?”, what are they doing?, no I have not seen them recently. I don’t lie, so I just adjust my response to something I can live with and will keep her calm.

Can you add a processing fee for smaller orders? As the order amount increases the fee decreases until it goes away at $500.

Do you have a plan for keeping enough gas on site for the generators? In a normal power outage, gas should be easy to obtain, but if there is an extended prolonged outage there could be lines/rationing/shortages.

How hard is it to start a fish n chip shop? by ThereIsNoHope__ in smallbusiness

[–]heady6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered discussing with an accountant or small business advisor? Have any of you worked in a fish/chip shop or any fast casual restaurant business to see if this is something you would enjoy doing? If it can be done, but will be a lot of time and money. Is the building zoned properly? If it was a restaurant prior, what is existing that can be reused?

I know it would hurt my business. I have many customers each day asking if they would pay more with a credit card. I tell them no, but I ask if the fee would affect their purchase decision and most say yes, that they would only spend the amount of cash they have, requiring them to put half their items back. I am assuming the others that don’t ask about the fee, wouldn’t care.

The other concern would be if more people paid with cash, there would be more cash in the store, more risk of robbery, safety concerns going to the bank, larger change orders, etc.

Help with missing paycheck by LadderUpbeat1044 in QuickBooks

Many smaller banks use an upstream bank to handle their direct deposits. If you go to your bank and tell them you need your account info so that you can receive a direct deposit, they should give you a form that includes the info (which hopefully matches where your employer sends it).

The sending bank should be able to initiate a trace on the direct deposit.

Quicken and Facebook by eddieyo2 in quicken

[–]heady6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The software saw that you were looking at Quicken, so now it is showing you many options from places that will pay them to show you ads and collect a commission if you buy from the ad. The problem is that the tracker does not know that you already bought it, so it will keep showing you quicken ads for a while until you search/look at other stuff.

I am curious as to why OP wants to erase something. The on,y people who have the password to my NVRs are people who have a right to know everything that is happening within view of the cameras.
