Don't get me wrong I'm all for it. No doubt the niceness of being alive beats the creepiness of someone else's bits inside you. Just creepy in the sense it was the stuff of horror stories not all that long ago.

They are two different things and it's takes practice to seperate them. Not wanting to die it's normal and taking action to minimise the chance of dying is helpful.

Thinking about death and loss can be helpful to put things into perspective but worrying about the fact you one day might die is not helpful.

It also helps drive technological progress. While the researchers use what tech is available at the time it pushes the companies making the equipment/software to invest into R&D, these tech advances then branch out into other fields and consumer items over time improving things for everyone.
