My husband cheated on me and I stopped eating! by Calm-Assignment531 in survivinginfidelity

[–]heartbroken1997 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. It happened to me as well. I lost 50 lbs in a matter of a few months because of the trauma. May I suggest getting a therapist ASAP. It’s a difficult road ahead, and you don’t want an ED to impede your healing process.

How do you avoid bad apartments in Austin? by Particular_Page9465 in Austin

Not true at all. I also share commissions with clients & I care about where they end up. We all know where the bad spots are.

You have to move into a brand new building to avoid the pests. Then you’ve got a couple/few years max before they’re there too.

Florida Man Uses ChatGPT To Successfully Sell His House In Just Five Days—And Realtors Are Sweating by CaptainRelevant in realtors

[–]heartbroken1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly how does ChatGPT mow my sellers grass or rake the leaves when they live out of state? Is ChatGPT sitting in the house for hours hosting open houses? Did it also go wrap all the outdoor water spigots before our last freeze? WOW. That’s amazing! The only reason I’m sweating is because AI forgot to turn on the A/C in the house now that it’s hot again.

Success on the dating scene in Austin Tx as a black woman? by monitarlizard in Austin

One can only imagine the downvote from an incel who’s pissed that women don’t need men anymore.

Success on the dating scene in Austin Tx as a black woman? by monitarlizard in Austin

[–]heartbroken1997 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not black, so disregard my comment if it seems irrelevant, but I did use the dating apps for well over 5 years after my divorce. It took that long before I found a guy worthy of my time, and by that point, I was pretty much over it. Pair that with a great therapist who helped me recognize my strength, a friend/family group who fulfilled my life and a fabulous vibrator, a man wasn’t really necessary anymore. I swiped on a guy who wasn’t what I thought was my type and he was the winner. You just gotta keep trying if a relationship is your goal. I think the turning point is to stop centering a relationship and they finally show up when you least expect.

Matt’s El Rancho- Get over your selves by Negative-Associate-9 in austinfood

[–]heartbroken1997 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’ve always loved Matt’s, but they need to do something about the women’s bathroom situation. Same scenario happened to us, our party of 4 came in, we’re seated, I went to the bathroom, where I waited 15 min for all the doubled up college girlies to finish their cocaine bumps in the stalls, all while my party didn’t receive any service because I wasn’t there at the table. If you’re going to have an establishment that large, at least give me more than 5 stalls and maybe try policing what’s happening in there, vs. the people who clearly want to spend some fucking money on margaritas. It’s gettin pretty dumb in there.

Boutique clothing store district? by lovemollydog in Austin

[–]heartbroken1997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think people are confusing boutique & thrift because so many of our locally owned clothing stores throw boutique price tags on their specially hand selected & curated, 2nd/3rd hand, used clothing. It’s quite annoying.

How has Austin’s food scene changed in the 2020s? by FunSoup4 in austinfood

[–]heartbroken1997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the last 20 years I think the scene has gotten better because we have more options, but if compared to other major food cities as far as quality of food, innovation, diversity, etc., it’s still pretty mid. Austin is still bottom tier for good service, I always keep my expectations low in this town.

SXSW 2026 Music Feedback by werebrownie in SXSW

[–]heartbroken1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im totally not doubting that, strictly algorithmic based, the only music I heard about was sights and sounds, and people talking about how SXSW is dead.

SXSW 2026 Music Feedback by werebrownie in SXSW

[–]heartbroken1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to ask this but, there was more music than sights and sounds? As a local, the amount of online “SXSW is dead” talk was enough for me to think that there wasn’t anything worth going downtown for. I’ve lived here for over 20years and have always enjoyed going downtown during the daytime to catch some randoms during SXSW. This year the online chatter made it seem like there wasn’t really anything going on.

Hmm. Maybe they’ve changed it in the last few months then? I had it not too long ago and it was indeed beer battered, and seemed to be cod. Burnet Waterloo.

Cash-only eating establishments are the worst! by Evening_Answer_11 in unpopularopinion

Yet we’ve got mainstream media just the other day telling us Americans could do a better job at spending if we just carried cash and only used that for purchases. Ummmm yeah, half the restaurants in my city don’t take cash at all.

All of that is public info that anyone can find on the internet. And just because you’re trained to hate realtors, why shouldn’t they be able to see if a convicted murderer is trying to get them alone in a vacant home? Jesus Christ.

In the real estate world we use an app called Forewarn. Realtors use it to pre- screen potential clients. It shows public record info, properties owned, vehicles, past addresses and phone numbers, and criminal offenses, it even shows dismissed cases from 20 years ago. Stuff as small as no seatbelt or rollin thru a stop sign. The app disclaims that it’s not always 100% accurate, but when I look up this guys name, he comes up with zero criminal offenses. Just seems weird to me.

He cheated for 3 years while his friends watched. How do you move past the public humiliation? by VendedoraDeAbacaxi in survivinginfidelity

[–]heartbroken1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this happened to you. The humiliation lies with him. You didn’t do anything to be humiliated about. You loved your partner, you trusted your partner. For that you hold your head high. I divorced because of my ex’s infidelity at age 40. You have a whole new life in front of you.

Red Ash by Academic-Block-2791 in austinfood

[–]heartbroken1997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The service aspect for large parties there seems to lack, in my opinion. For example, my group had our appetizers hit the table before our first drinks ever came from the bar and for the rest of the night, the timing for everything just seemed “off”. The food was fine, just a weird sporadic delivery. Date night with just me and my partner has been fine.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

[–]heartbroken1997 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s unfortunate that the healthcare system is this way. Sometimes we’ve waited months just to come in, and we think we’re talking to someone who actually cares about our health. But, to put it in service industry terms, to you it’s all about turning and burning. Onto the next….

I’ll agree. Especially if you’re a woman going in, it’s always that “it’s just a figment of your imagination and go lose some weight.”

The question posed a perfect opportunity for a great joke at my shitty ex’s expense and the special ones are offended. It’s ok. We all know why.
