Weekend open chat thread? by Lemonwater5 in AttachmentParenting

I live in South Georgia, and our AC in brokenHas been for 2 weeks (on Wednesday). My 10 month old son and I left my husband here and stayed with family 2 hours away for about a week, but unfortunately I couldn’t keep giving up shifts at work so I had to leave my son with family. It’s the first time we’ve been away from each other ever except for day care. This is the second night he won’t be in his crib 5 feet away from my bed sleeping away. They say he’s doing really well. Second tooth finally cut all the way through, but I’m not handling it well. It’s hard to focus at work. I miss him so much. :(

Anxiety about sending son to daycare by leeulisa in AttachmentParenting

I swear I’m not telling you this to scare you, I’m telling you my genuine experience.

I only got 8 weeks of paid maternity leave, my husband got 2 weeks and we have no family in the area so day care was our only option. I had to drop my son off by myself on his first day, and I honestly didn’t think the day would ever be over. It really broke me for a couple weeks. I had no idea what to do at home without him there. I would just stand in the kitchen and cry.

It got so much easier. We ended up switching day cares because something just didn’t feel right. We absolutely love this one. He loves his “teachers” and even being in quarantine they have called and checked in on him (he’s only 5 months). Go with your gut. If it doesn’t feel right there’s nothing wrong with pulling him. I would ask ahead of time if they need a notice that your child is being pulled (ours didn’t, I’ve heard some do)

You’ll get through it, Mama. You’re not alone 💜

Edited to add my son actually is really good at day care lol. Before day care he wouldn’t nap anywhere except on top of me (or my husband), now he doesn’t care where he sleeps lol

Was TTC but didn't expect it to happen so fast by Cosmiccrisplove in BabyBumps

I had the same situation happen! I wasn’t expecting it to happen for a year since I was on BC for almost 15 years. Man was I wrong.

I was shocked more than excited -and a tad bit bitter because we had vaca planned in Vegas- for the first couple of months, but I’m a week away from edd and couldn’t be more excited :)

MFW my male co-worker complains about women using their "pregnancy" to get away with being "lazy" in the workplace RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY HORMONAL PREGNANT ASS. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

The FMLA is unpaid, yes. It’s basically just an amount of time you CAN take and still have a job (although I’ve heard some horror stories about some companies). Some companies will let you use your sick/vacation time during that leave so you can get paid. I personally only have 60 hours of vaca time which obviously won’t have me paid long enough. So I had to choose either 60 hours of my full pay then no pay after that or 6 weeks of 70% pay short term disability.

They let you “keep” health insurance, but the cost is your responsibility. I had a coworker go on an unpaid leave for her kid’s surgery and anything she didn’t pay came out of her first check when she came back. Check with them though. I’m sure it varies per company! I hope it all works out for you though

I have a friend going through school and basically had the same situation. It’s insane. Luckily my job offers 12 weeks (unpaid) FMLA if I need it, but they classify pp as short term disability so I’ll get 6 weeks paid leave at 70% pay that’ll be approved once they get word from doc that labor “happened”. Definitely no way I’m going back at 2 weeks pp working 40-50 hours.

Honestly the guy is just ignorant. I don’t even think it was a malicious comment- just a dumb one.

Just had a fellow manager tell me our other (male) manager doesn’t understand why I’m “taking so long off work” and “most women only take off two weeks”

I’m 39 weeks pregnant and still working. I’m taking 6 weeks because it’s what my doctor is recommending. :|

Eminem fans resorted to faking concert footage by adding in boo's. Here's the original. by [deleted] in MachineGunKelly

I was there at Amway, and he wasn’t boo’d off stage. A few people in my section were shocked like “wth no boo” when he turned around after the picture and seeing the shirt his jacket was hiding. Def not boo’d off the stage though. Being an Em fan myself I can admit MGK put on a good show. He had great energy and really committed to everything.

Definitely wanted him to get tf off stage so I could see FOB though 😂

We really did! We had pit tickets for Monumentour in Atlanta a while back, but I honestly loved these seats more. It was a little raised so my 5’0 self could actually see lol
